Biggie dying really overrated the hell out of LAD, even if the god NAS died I wouldn't call iww a universal classic. There's only been like 5 of those ever

nikkas confused about what's a dope rapper and what aint.
Ross is a good rapper with solid performances over great beats and hooks sung by other artists, occasional good hooks from himself.

As @SunZoo said earlier his vocals are basically "white noise".
They're not wack, just uneventful and interchangeable.
You could remove ross and give Jada,The game etc, the same beats, same hooks from Teflon don, deeper than rap etc and those albums would be just as good despite ross's absence.

You cant say that about true greats.
You can't remove snoop from
Th Chronic, doggystyle, murder was the case and still have the same quality projects. WHY? cause snoop was really creating magical moments nearly every verse.ROSS DOESNT DO THAT.

You can't remove 2pac ffrom thuglife,matw,aeom,makaveli
And still maintain the quality,BECAUSE PAC WAS CREATING UNFORGETTABLE PERFORMANCES within the verses

The same can be said about Biggie. Ilove RTD as a whole. But biggie never gets outshined by beats,NEVER EVER was he just "there" on his tracks. He was killing them verses .
Which is why he has so many memorable flows (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than ross) despite his very short career.

Same thing with prime Bone. It wasnt just hooks and beats. The first three albums and the scattered soundtrack songs between them ALL possessed memorable flows from bone that people recited all the time.

Same with the juvenile (prime),it wasnt just hooks and beats, nikkas was killing verses.

same thing with wayne

Same thing with drake.

Same thing with 50

Now we must salute ross consistent good projects but he;s never been a great rapper.

It's not about old heads vs young heads,Ross is just aight in the booth

This is gospel.

I disagree with this I was a kid but remember when big and pac both died them nikkas was on top of the rap world its not even up for debate.

Nah, he's right about that. There's no way in hell anyone was going to objectively critique "LAD" so soon after BIG died.

Nah I disagree now if it was a wack album then he would be right but the album was dope on its own.

You aren't listening to what I'm saying breh.

It doesn't matter if it's good or bad. Nobody was gonna jump out the window and say anything bad about it regardless, directly after BIG died. It would've been career suicide.

Matter of fact, let me kill the thread real quick.

BIG's peers in the 90's:

Nas, Jay, Pac, Death Row, Outkast, BONE, etc. all in their prime.

Ross's peers in 2006:

:manny:

What was considered an elite rapper in 2006 would've been a :ld: rapper in the 90's.

No body was calling LAD a universal classic before biggie died . A lot of revisionist history on that album

I mean....that's cool if you feel like that. I'm not trying to change your mind. I'm just saying at the wake or funeral ain't the time to "keep it real". It never was.
