If You Were A Club Owner, Would You Book A Lot Of Rappers At Current Prices?

Just on reading up some of these artists' prices and how much they charge a show (a lot thanks due to 360 deals and such), it brings up a question.

If you were a club owner these days, would you take the gamble of some of these artists to book shows for? Given that a lot of these dudes miss their show dates, don't deliver on what was promised, and a lot of times are double booking now and having to cancel on you at last minute. And some of these artists are asking for 10 racks upfront plus airfare and accommodations.

I'm all for rappers getting their money, but if you were a club owner, would you book say, one popular artist per month? I'm starting to see a lot of clubs survive just off good promotion and word of mouth, good DJs, and local talent getting their shine on.

The question is... why wouldn't you?

don't matter how great your local talent is, They aren't gonna bring the hoes out like Trey Songz,Ross, TI or any of the Top tier or 2nd tier artists.

even if you got a popular rapper just hosting.. it's gonna do you much better than local rapper such and such who works at Hertz during the day.

i'd rather prosper, than survive.

It's the promoters that are booking these shows and paying the rappers...and as promoters they make their names and thus their living, off of providing the most in demand events that they can...they all want to walk around and boast and brag about being the nikka that brought *insert random rapper* to town...it lends juice and notoriety to every thing else you do in the future, on top of whatever flip you make on the show...if I'm club owner, I'm with it too...for my cut as well as the opportunity for my club to be know as the spot where you bring the hot acts through...or just that spot that's always popping in general

Club owners/promoters don't give a fukk as long as bodies are in the club, paying cover and spending money. Once you start promoting XYZ rapper's appearance at your club, a last-minute cancelation won't matter. Making money off being a quality venue is ideal, but for those that can't do that, I don't see the downside in bringing in a celeb. It only becomes a problem if the talent doesnt deliver on a consistent basis.

The problem is... a lot of these promoters these days ain't shyt. :leostare:

I've heard of so many promoters booking artists and paying the deposit/half up front just to have the artist never show up while the promoters dip out with the pre-sale money and blame it on the club for screwing it up.

Also have seen promoters lie to people and say such artist is coming to town and promote it as a concert and charge concert prices ONLY for the artist to show up and it's a hosting gig (since getting an artist to host is cheaper than to perform) and collect all the extra money.

And then, some promoters lie all together and say an artist is coming with no intents of booking said artists. Who do you think people will be more mad at? The promoters or the venue/owner itself?

Promoters are some of the shadiest folks out there...

They get to sell one bottle of liquor for 400 when a rapper comes thru.
Who wouldnt do that?
Trust me most of the times you start profiting rather quickly.
Obviously you want to book someone who has a good history with club appearances.

Nah? We're not talking about just big cities.

We're talking about mid to small sized towns that can't afford prices like Future. You think some random hood town can afford Future? A town with a population of 30,000 can get Future at $46k? Future don't go to places like that anymore.

So who are these clubs gonna get for artists? Cash Out? They can't even afford Gunplay. :heh:

Not sure if you guys know this but rappers lie....all the fukking time...about everything. Some of these guys saying they are making tons per show are in fact not making half of what they say.

As for the clubs making money, it is more than just ticket sales, it is also alcohol sales. I know a local spot out here that gets a lot of acts to come through and tickets are reasonable but the drink prices are crazy (like 7 bucks for a fukking Corona) Bigger names make people more excited which equals more drinks. Lil Crip Walk from Inglewood no one knows isn't going to get people as hyped up as 2 Chainz.

Ohhh I was about to say... Lmao... Well "small" mid-size cities will book a nikka like styles p. lol.... Maybe they'll bring in a nikka like Bobby V.... But BIG cities Where the REAL money is invoked there's no way around it... I'm in Miami Hal of the year, and going cheap promoting your club isn't cutting it... Pay up...

Edit: and when you start getting know as the popping spot it pays off and you'll actually end up getting MORE for less... Once your joint gets known as "That Spot" when certain artists are in town they'll cut through and shyt most of the time They'll buy bottles and they'll do a few songs just because lol... So they end up paying YOU.. All it takes is a DJ to say "yo, yo, shout to Jeezy in the building!!" the DJ starts playing a Jeezy set, next thing you know he's on stage for a few tracks.... I see this type of shyt happen 3/4 times a week.

College towns... that are small/mid-sized can get dudes like Tyga and Ace Hood.

Having one of them rent-a-p*ssy escorts like Jenna Shea or Pinky host your club for a night will do you well if you cant afford to bring top talent to your club.

you can book such and such popular rapper just for a walk thru, not to perform and still get the same effect ( a lot of those fukkboy promoters do this... and get a free show outta a rapper by billing it as a performance)

unless your local talent is that of the " they're gonna be signed soon" ilk, you should be trying to get popular/semi relevant names to show up.

I've seen promoters book a solid established act and then charge the openers to perform on the same bill. Why not?

I mentioned that shyt that the promoters do in the earlier post. Always booking EVERYTHING as a performance when it's a damn hosting gig. Hate that shyt. They pull it off in big cities too... I still don't know how they still get work. :dwillhuh:

But yeah, I know lower level celebs like a L&HH star or a popular model or a mid tier guy like Rocko at best. But college towns are definite. Money long enough to book the artist college kids love and keep it moving. Tyga and Currensy live for these kinda shows.

But overall... I mean just in general, is it worth it to keep bringing in celebs? Maybe once every two months or so is fine, but I see venues trying to do that shyt every 2 weeks. Will burn out way too quick.

Oh we already know they lie about everything. Especially SHOW money. But I can't say that because you know Coli nikkas believe everything that their favorite rappers say and we'll be labeled "Coli accountants" again... :scheme:

LOL yeah...I mean logically you can figure out that Waka Flocka isnt making 100k a show on a regular basis with out being an accountant.
