the thing about those "show" prices they holler about is..... they are usually talking about the MOST they get.. stadium tour.. tours the label sets up with large venues.. overseas tours.. big ass colleges for homecoming and shyt

wiz get 100k when him and currency touring the US.. but he ain't getting 100k when it's time to perform at the fountain blue in miami. they'd never make their money back... but a $50 ticket at an NBA arena... selling about 10000 tickets, plus the prices of concession stands and charging merch stands and shyt... they make that back easy...

but then you gotta think of, what type of promoter got that much money.. and pull to book an nba arena... those usually are set up through the label.. who high balls it cause they want a bigger cut from your 360 deal anyway

yeah thats what im sayin tho

most people / general public tihnk these rappers gettin 100k to perform at some club that holds 500 people in downtown LA :dead:

How does this work if you own the club and you are selling drugs out of it? Give me a scenario of how that would work and the $ bottom line. :jawalrus: :myman:

I would hope my club would be popular enough to where the artist takes whatever crumb I throw at them

Local club called Fevers in VA never has rappers there and the owner is doing just fine from what I can tell. The club has been going strong for like 20 years so I would just follow his business model. Charge 20 bucks at the door and over charge for the drinks. You would probably make more in the long run instead of depending on rappers.

whatever it is, you figure out the math, how many tickets you think you can sell, the price of the tickets, and every damn thing else BEFORE YOU BOOK THE ARTIST. and that's the difference between a great promoter and a shytty one.

:skip: Isnt the bolded just common sense though, like are there really dumbasses out there that dont calculate all this ahead of time?

Thats how most club owners do it. Promoters are the ones renting out the clubs booking these artists.

It's funny this thread got up. Just recently a friend of mine was on twitter/fb bytching about how he went to a club (Ibiza for the DC folks) expecting Kendrick Lamar to perform. He said all he performed was his verse off fukking problems and THATS IT. As soon as he said it I knew exactly what happened, Im like I bet you Kendrick Lamar had a show in the area that same day and a promoter saw this as an opportunity to just pay him some change to do a club "walkthrough" and then promote it as a show. So I check Kendikk's tour calendar and sure enough I was correct. He had a pretty big show at some pavillion earlier that day. :smh: at these nikkas man.

Nah? We're not talking about just big cities.

We're talking about mid to small sized towns that can't afford prices like Future. You think some random hood town can afford Future? A town with a population of 30,000 can get Future at $46k? Future don't go to places like that anymore.

So who are these clubs gonna get for artists? Cash Out? They can't even afford Gunplay. :heh:

Lookin at some of Futures upcoming tourdates i see cities such as Noblesville Indiana, Pelham Arkansas and Maryland Heights Missouri. Man these nikkas go wherever they paying that guap at. Small towns got dope boys and wanna be ballers just like big cities.

Club owners/promoters don't give a fukk as long as bodies are in the club, paying cover and spending money. Once you start promoting XYZ rapper's appearance at your club, a last-minute cancelation won't matter. Making money off being a quality venue is ideal, but for those that can't do that, I don't see the downside in bringing in a celeb. It only becomes a problem if the talent doesnt deliver on a consistent basis.

Reading some of these posts makes me feel better that a lot of folks aren't promoters. :whew:

We don't need any more janky promoters than we already have out there. :lolbron:

It's as if folks don't even think of all the costs that go into running a club or even THROWING a big time party, especially if a big artist shows up.

It's like y'all think the artist's booking fee is the only overhead that people will have in booking a show. :dwillhuh:

No wonder these dudes go out of business within a year or two. :pachaha:

Yea this and another poster said the same thing to me. "Do people actually not calculate cost before hand......."

No. They don't. And that's the problem. They figure they'll hire Beans to come. Pay him 5gs and charge people 20 and bam. Instant money

Forgetting the size of the club, the area, other bigger events that same day or night... They don't even promote but online. So they forget or don't even have promotion costs. Which is strange seeing how they're promoters.

On top of that they will do ANYTHING to lie to you to get you there. I remember. And DMV must be the worst for this. I remember method man coming to rain in Fairfax. It closes at 2. nikka walked in at 155. Said two things. Bounced. Tickets was 30 a piece.

Another thing cause I see a lot of VA dudes. Va doesn't allow bars and clubs. If you notice every bar or club is also a restaurant or something during the day. VA law states you must make more money from food, than alcohol. So opening a club here is damn near impossible unless you prepared to open a food spot too

This situation is pretty unique though.

Most rappers do a few songs at their club appearences

This was drake hosting the Velvet Room after the club paradise show last year in atlanta
