look at it this way. presuming that a lebron led team would initially win more it would therefore probably pick lower in the draft thereby acquiring less talent than the durant led team would. the durant led team would eventually surpass the lebron led team in overall talent/depth

Wow, that is horrible logic.

in what way? now of course it is based on a lot of assumptions but given how some teams seem to operate I would be willing to bet half the GMs in the NBA might think that way.

to be honest I would actually start a team around Lebron if for no other reason than his versatility trumps KD "purer" shooting ability IMO.

Durant is more refined than Lebron was at his age. Lebron is better than he's ever been, he's in his prime, the player he is now is miles ahead of his Cleveland days..........yet Durant, who's 4-5 years younger is maybe a step or two behind him. That's pretty good. It shows when you their first Finals/Playoffs runs.

25ppg (41%fg), 8rebs, 8ast (22 yo Lebron, 2007 Playoffs)
28ppg (51%fg), 8rebs, 4ast (23 yo Durant, 2012 Playoffs)
22ppg (35%fg), 7rebs, 7ast (22 yo Lebron, 2007 Finals)
30ppg (55%fg), 6rebs, 2ast (23 yo Durant, 2012 Finals)

You could make an argument for Durant :manny:

Why did you only bring up scoring?

LeBron easily. Not to take away from KD, but during both of their rookie seasons, despite missing the playoffs, LeBron improved his team each year. KD's team pretty much sucked for 2 years in a row.

Durant is younger and more loyal so you can depend on him sticking with the team when things don't go well.

We'll see if you singing the same tune after a couple more Finals losses or conference final exits for your boy, its real easy to be loyal when you got a top 10 player beside you.

Why did you only bring up scoring?

Because its the only thing KD does great that you can compare to Lebron

Lebron effects the game even when hes not scoring..in the finals last year when Durant was struggling to score he didnt do anything else to effect the game and became invisible..

Theyres no comparing the two Lebron is a top 5 all time player Durant is siimply a great scorer in the mold of a George Gervin theyres no comparison..

Id build around the guy who wont bolt for the "happening city" and signs long-term in a city where not much happens, but he is happy nonetheless.

If Cleveland's Owner and GM were competent like OKC's Lebron would still be there
