Why do so many in our community have this mindset? And we wonder why we don’t have any fukking generational wealthy or stability

It's terrible but this is worse. Parents have a full blown complete understanding of credit, home buying, automotive skills. But won't pass that info to the kids. Have a 'they will learn about it later' mentality.

If the child is fully financially literate at 18 you absolutely can cut them loose. The financial literacy is a big problem. Not teaching it in the home is a problem. Most schools have zero classes for teaching it. It's sad.

18-20 is not after college tho and yes you are right the path that they take allows them to leave home after college which actually might be in the late 20s sometimes even early 30s

You are right my bad I misread. but even then, most Nigerians and Asians go to college and those parents gladly and proudly support their kids through college.

At 18-20 a kid is nowhere near ready to be on their own. Both mentally and financially. Black people have to stop this mentality

Dumb. My sister moved back in with my parents 2 years ago when she moved back to the town they live in. House is big enough they don’t even gotta see each other. She’s getting married next year and staying there till then. She makes 6 figures and just stacks it all. We laugh at people dumb tryna poke fun at it lol

The wealthiest person in my family lived at home til he was 27, with his wife and son I mind you. He went from that to getting married and buying a home cash outright.

Yet the majority of black parents act like it's a symbol of pride to get your child out of the door at 17. Who cares if they' struggle, it's apart of life, at least I got my house back. Not everybody flourishes with that sink or swim shyt.
