Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Why do so many in our community have this mindset? And we wonder why we don’t have any fukking generational wealthy or stability
So much bullshyt in this thread.... First off, WHITE PEOPLE are the lowest group to have adult children living at home... Hispanics and Blacks are actually on equal ground..

In past decades, White young adults have been less likely than their Asian, Black and Hispanic counterparts to live with their parents. That gap has narrowed since February as the number of White young adults living with their mothers and/or fathers grew more than for other racial and ethnic groups.

In fact, Whites accounted for about two-thirds (68%) of the increase in young adults living with their parents. As of July, more than half of Hispanic (58%) and Black (55%) young adults now live with their parents, compared with about half of White (49%) and Asian (51%) young adults.

I get it.. At 18-20 your kid should be in college, the military or trade school.. Not at home working a dead end job... Now after that, you can come BACK, but you for damn sure ain't working at Costco living in my basement

shyt, I lived with my family until I was 22. My dad was teaching at NCSU and I was attending lol. I saved alot of money and they helped get my house a year later.
Going to school from home is acceptable too.. But just living and not doing shyt.. Nah you gots to GO!

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
Learned a lot doing that out at 18 thing, so I’m not totally against it, but it certainly didn’t help me save money lmao.

My cousin stayed at his parents just like all these other posters and never moved out until he could buy a condo in his mid to late 20’s, so he never paid rent. Much smarter move financially.

I would say the difference is that my experience made me way hungrier than his. He’s been at the same job for like 20 years, where I’ve bounced around and worked my way up to higher earnings than him now.

Nothing wrong with staying home as long as you're actually doing something and not bumming it up.

I lived at home while working full-time after college; allowed me to throw money at my student loans aggressively and pay them off by 25.

dumb mindset.

especially if the kid isn't just laying on the couch posting on thecoli all day like Reggie and they're saving up money it's fine.

a lot of these people resent their kids and I don't blame them if they acting wild/disrespectful, but this mindset for all kids will just further hinder the building of wealth.

Whites have more resources and assistance. IDK why you posted this like it has any context to the OP

Meanwhile Indians, Latinos, Asians etc stay at home, stack up, rack up and then buy property that they OWN but let’s glorify being renters and pretend we get the same benefits as cacs just so we can stunt:wow:

OP says this is a black issue. Stats prove black adult children live with their parents more than ANY other race

So yea. It’s directly related. It’s a financial literacy problem. Or as you put it, access to help issue. It is however NOT a “just live with your folks black people and you too will succeed”

No. You actually have to have parents with money and resources first. Living with your broke ass family ain’t gonna help if everyone dead broke. Getting away from that is probably the first thing you should do as to not fall into the cycle

It seems like people automatically assume you "bumming" and just doin nothing if you live at home at 18-21. Those
things doesnt necessarily go together.

College graduates are shacking up with roommates in this current climate and folks have the nerve to say 20 year olds still living at home are bums….

My ex stayed home until she was in her 30’s then bought her house

Now her parents live with her ass…

I say live what’s best for you and yours, but this “get out at 18” stuff is not a smart move

I already posted enough facts that nobody is assuming.. black kids stay at home more than any other race and people who stay at home are less likely to ever own a home....

What's actually happening in this thread is people ASSUMING black people kick their kids out and staying at home is a factor in good financials... Both are false
