It’s a money pit honestly. People make their lawns their whole personality

To get a real nice yard you need to put down pre emergent at the right times, sand and level, aerate, fertilize, mow religiously, water a ton (what a waste of water), post emergents. It’s legit a full time job. Not worth my time. I do enough to make it look presentable

Exactly. Congrats to the breh, but I'd rather grow stuff I can actually eat. Grass is a waste of good soil and water.

I like my town cause it's like living in a forest almost. Lots of big, old trees among the houses.

Family home about 75 years old with half a dozen huge trees on almost a half acre.

Growing grass is tough cause the trees have depleted the soil and the mass amount of shade. I was gone for about 25 years and when I came back the front yard looked like a desert or a beach. Straight bare sand.

For the first few years I plowed up the yard and planted grass. Sprinklers the whole 9.

Didn't really work. I let it go for a few years but I noticed that recently that its got a decent amount of greenery. Still looking kinda ragged but compared to where I started it's greatly improved.

I might hit it again at the end of the summer with some more seeds.

Brehs, been working on my alopecia spotty ass lawn all year and now its starting to grow.

Giving those seeds 3 more weeks to grow and toughen before I shape it up. A breh is antsy to cut & trim and then be:ohlawd:.

My lawn doesn't look like that, but it looks a lot better than it did when I moved in. The tree I have reeks havoc on my front yard lol. Also I'm not cutting my grass every few days lmao.

I literally have a reply for every post in this thread. Your municipality has free or low cost compost somewhere. Go get you a couple truck loads.

The key to a beautiful lawn is beautiful roots. Prolong that 1st cut of the season. Let your yard become overgrown and the lawn will grow the root system to support that height of grass.

Only water at dusk. A healthy lawn doesn’t require much water.

Stop Scalping! The #1 mistake I see is people trying to imitate golf turf by cutting low. A healthy blade of grass is ideally 6, 4 inches at bare minimum.

Compost is the best fertilizer. If it comes from your yard it actually strengthens the immune system of your yard and deters pests/invasive species

I have a lawn care company that comes out once a month to do all of the lawn treatment work. Has my grass green and looking nice as hell right now. Now I just need to do my part which is cutting and watering the lawn regularly. Summer months are hard when it gets really hot and dry. Have to water pretty often or else all that good grass will go to waste.
