Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Depends on what your other spending habits are like and what type of bills/family circumstances you have (kids? Spendy ass material-laden girlfiend/wife?).

I make just over 20 (but pull in robustly exorbitant amounts of OT... i'm talking 20-30 hours per payroll).

Said fukk it and copped a 30K whip and I love it.

Because it depends if you're a car person like me. I enjoy driving a decent whip with great horse power. All this polo on i horse power.

i would get approved for a auto loan from your bank and go to Cragsilist and finance a whip around $7k-$9k. your car payment would only be around $150 and thats pretty much a used 2011/2012 car

Depends on your bills. If the balance left after taxes and fees and interest is around $15,000 once you make a down payment, your monthly payment is something a little over $200 per month. $20 an hour at 40 hours a week should pay somewhere just over $3000 a month. That isn't much.

If you have a car right now, just hang onto that while saving up. Then sell it privately and use that as part of the down payment. It's what I'm planning on doing in the winter. I think Nissan is doing some good lease specials up here for the Maxima through the fall and probably will at the end of the year.

Depend on how you living. If you live in a huge Metro Area like the DMV or Dallas/Ft Worth and you have to drive a lot, I'm getting some very reliable around that 15 mark. Probably an older ES Lexus. Only how I'd advise a 4-5k car is if you're money is tight and you don't need to drive so much. A point A to point B situation.
