She wrote the review and was in the room but it was a unanimous decision from the editors of the Source as well as the co-owner Jon Schecter they had a conference where they listened to the album back then getting 5 was serious it wasn't one persons decision.i always thought it was Miss Info
oh, i would always assume she would have had to have had the ok after doing the review and putting her argument forward for it to be 5 but from your first reply i thought you meant she had nothing to do with it.
but what i said about a little asian girl coming out now and gave a newcomers album a perfect score these days would definitely be looked at funny.

Not really, Miss Info is/was way more hip hop than the cacs at Complex, Metacritic and Pitchfork who write reviews today. She went by Shortie too, nobody would assume she was Asian
Today I don't think any new comer can come up with an Illmatic, Ready to Die, Doggystyle type debut record
most dudes put out independent albums and mixtapes and shyt before their debut ( Kendrick) and artists don't have the same artistic freedoms because of labels as they used to Her review is a lot more real than what these writers do today where they OD on cliches and shyt they learned in creative writing classes they tend to be overly descriptive.
