Earth to Dave, were talking about 94. Keep deflecting youre proving my point.
i dont know where u live. i thought u said chicago at some point?
nas mattered in 94.
nas mattered ever since live at the bbq.
it didnt sell diamond or whatever u feel like it needed to for you to accept it as a viable piece of music.
then again neither did lupe and twista..

the fact remains its 2014 and nas is still given the opportunity to keep releasing albums when the argument could be made he hasnt released a good album since the good 90s.
its 2014 and illmatic is still discussed. a lot.
how many of your posts are about illmatic?
no one is gonna agree on everything. i guarantee no one is shoving illmatic down your throat. you could go the rest of your life and not hear illmatic ever again. easily.

so again i dont know where u live or lived in 94.
illmatic was a HUGE deal.

Nas was less known then the artists you listed yes.
Maybe that was due to the fact he had no crossover/commercial singles on his debut.

But then again we are still discussing his debut 20 years later.
are we discussing twista or da brat?
you arent answering my question.

.
Nas was easily bigger than Twista in '94...

Da Brat was more popular, she was on So So Def she had mainstream singles, the g-funk sound and was sorta gimmicky. Nobody thought Funkdafied was better than Illmatic. Again Intilectual disregard Illmatic's purpose, how things were in '94, and is judging off first week sales like an idiot.

was lupe fiasco bigger than flo rida and pitbull?
naS was more known than T in 94... maybe. T was coming off that appearance in the Guiness Book of World Records. But the initial question was whether he was rapping better than naS in 94 and the answer is a clear yes. Along with all the other rappers I listed. Stick to the topic, we are talking about 94. So, the rappers I mentioned were generally more popular and absolutely NOTHING suggests illmatic influenced how they rapped. You can go to their records up to that point and see that is evident. So the question is what exactly did illmatic do? It didnt sell, it didnt influence... what did it do?

Treach was murderin naS in 94 and selling more records.

It influenced you because more than half your posts are about it in 2014

I love the album.
Loved it when it came out. Love it to this day. Play it frequently.

I don't know what you want from me.
I didnt ask whether you loved it. I know you do, or you wouldnt keep talking in circles in order to keep from admitting that it had no impact on the game. Perhaps in New York...

I want you to admit that this nikka was not rapping better than Pac in 94, nor selling more records. I want you to admit he wasnt out rapping Treach in 94 nor selling more records. I want you to admit he wasnt out rapping Snoop in 94 nor selling more records. I want you to admit he wasnt out rapping Cube in 94 nor selling more records. I want you to admit he wasnt out rapping Method Man in 94 nor selling more records.... etc etc.

once you do that you can properly put illmatic and naS in 94 in the proper context... even if you really really really really love illmatic with all your heart.

I don't care about sales.
And again. Besides cube. Those albums you just listed are not being talked about 20 years later. So it must have had some impact no?
