I'm listening to it right now.

I haven't revisited or listened to a lot of classics. It's been a lot of 2015-18 so I'm diving back.

I might smoke and listen to doggystyle tonight actually. Right on.

Madvillainy is Doom, isn't it? I'mma listen to that. I been meaning to check him out for the longest.

Yeah it's doom and madlib. Their only album together.

Buuuut I will mf dooms operation doomsday is another great debut album.

What's good boom bap to you then?
None :yeshrug: that sound is dated as fukk...I was just listening to strictly for my nikkaZ yesterday and that was released around the same time as illmatic and it still bump...illmatic outside of it ain’t hard to tell, the world is yours, and NY state of mind is unlistenable...shyt the rhymes were below par...if nas kept releasing music like that, he wouldn’t be around 25 years later...people forget that you need good music to make good music...beat selection has been nas’ Achilles hell for a quarter of a century now...

Paid in Full is basically a glorified EP as well.
And I think you meant Criminal Minded, if you were going with debuts.

Fantastic list though.
Except Legal Drug Money. I know you love that album, but it’s just not held in that regard.

Illmatic is better than all those album though. Only one album better than it.

OBFCL is real close.

You know what, the infamous is also a high level classic. I like mf doom more but even I have to admit that mobb deeps debut is better than dooms.

Probably a top 5 debut to be real.

If you don't like any boom bap at all, the you really aren't a hip hop fan to me.
Which doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, like what you like. But you have far too narrow a frame of reference.

Which songs specifically?
shyt the rhymes were below par
What is par for you?
Give me an example of what's par, if Nas on Illmatic is below it.

Ok. You’re just saying Nas got better? I thought you were saying the rhymes on Illmatic weren’t up to par compared to what was out.
No it wasn’t up to par compared to his later work...which is strange considering that everybody seems to be in agreement that his first album is not only his best work, but he greatest rap album of all time...the album was okay and he get bonus points for being 18-19 when he was spitting on there...but BiG ready to die was better...illmatic is not the greatest and it’s badly overrated...Nas would’ve been AZ if he ain’t switch his style and production up...

Buuuut I will mf dooms operation doomsday is another great debut album.

I've heard nothing but good things aboutadvallainy. Recommend that before dooms solo? I don't really mind a group debut if it's held up with classic solos.

I still don't know how I feel about doom, lyrical skills at all but hopefully this changes my mind.

All of them. Can’t speak on Mystikal as I’ve never heard an album from him.

I would start with Cube too.

I've heard cube's off and on but never start to finish. Still recommend it? Illmatic had fire sequencing. I'm wanting that flows as smoothly as that.

Nas was a killer on "Represent." You have that Premier beat which sounds like impending danger, like it's time for you to pay for your sins. Then Nas just slaughters it for three whole verses. :wow:

Love committing sins and my nikkas sell crack.

:blessed:

Nas was on another level spitting this shyt.
