Do you feel underpaid and how much do you make a year

Yes and No.Do I believe teachers need a higher salary ?Yes.

But I live in Detroit...A 41K salary can go pretty far here. I'm content at the moment.

How much time outside of the work hours do you spend grading papers and getting lectures ready etc ???

Grading papers is just a hour or two on the weekend.Nothing crazy.At my school we do Unit planning. Putting together a Unit takes a tremendous amount of time because of the fact we (grade level team) prepare all of our powerpoints at that time too.But week to week there isn't really that much planning besides taking a peek at what the upcoming week has to offer.

Yeah I teach in the city.Never had to hold myself back. If you let kids get you to that point you've already lost.
