Congrats on landing the job, and doing reputable work. Though this thread would be more interesting ten years into our career.

Do you think you'll always be a teacher for a while? Any other goals?

I want to get into administration. Want to have a voice in shaping curriculum. Not just having it tossed onto me.

were you nervous on your first day?

Did you always want to be a teacher?

I worked in a Detroit middle school(not a teacher) but I wouldn't do it again. Those girls hit puberty and are too flirty. Don't have to deal with that in high school because 40% are lesbian or bi. And for the most part more mature (though you do have some flirty girls there as well). So salute on that but not for me.

:gladbron:Post a pic of your classroom. Did you decorate it yourself? Are you one of those "cool" teachers? or are you a strict by the books kinda guy?

How do you differentiate for your students?
Those with IEP's get their accommodations like taking tests in alternate settings, having longer content broken up etc...Biggest problem is that kids are starting to notice which kids are getting the accommodations and it's starting to become a minor issue. "Why is he using a calculator, can I use one too? No?That's Bold." shyt like that.

Toughest thing for me is keeping up with the kids who are the high achievers. They get done with stuff so quickly that I sometimes need an extra 2 or 3 tasks for them to complete. Usually give them some HOTS questions to go along with whatever content they're supposed to be learning.
