How is his use of drugs any different than how most men cope with life. A lot of distractions are used and despite being different they are still distractions.

I've seen many heads in your various threads give you sound advice, brother. It doesn't really seem that you want an actual solution, but rather a pity party. Drugs provide a temporary relief for issues that can be permanent if not dealt with at the root. It's the equivalent of getting shot by a bullet in the sternum and throwing some alcohol and a band aid on it. Your issue goes a lot deeper than the superficial and drugs won't fix that. This is cute now but you really don't want to get down the road 20 years from with this mindset, and even then, with this mindset it's not a guarantee you'll even be here in 20 years. If that's what you want,
