being happy >>>>>>> being miserable

Most of these guys commenting would not understand until they have had the same experience. You have to live life instead of
chasing money and overlooking your health. Make the right decision, go to your family and socialize with those still living before it's too late.

:manny: I hear you, that's why I leaning more towards keeping that hobby status. Guess I'm taking out my ass a little. I mean day to day ATC is cool. But my dude, when you have a close call you're involved with and even if you didn't make a mistake that messes with you forreal. That is of course if you take this shyt seriously and take pride in your work like me. And God forbid you have an aircraft accident and someone dies....:damn:

Most of times you deal with it and find ways to destress, just gotta fight past those rough times.

Man any job were you hold the fate of peoples lives in your hands has to be stressful. but think about it like this, would you rather have some fukk boy who barely qualified or someone with knowledge and skill doing the job. Do your thing man. you help save lives.

This nikka isn't WORTH six figures, he just gets paid that much. BARELY too.

Graduate school + professional school = win. Thats all you're getting.

You know I just had a similar convo with my girl the other day. I was telling her I'm feeling wayyyyy too stressed at my job (air traffic controller). This past month has been hell for me due a number of situations. I enjoy my career but I don't LOVE it, music is my real passion but Im a little torn.

I'm on track to being able to retire with a pension at 48 with like 60% of my salary but I've been thinking of saying fukk all this shyt and get into DJing.

I'm probably going to check out this DJ academy in Atl later year and follow that as a hobby and keep the day job. I take pride in my career just his stress is a bytch, plus 6 day work weeks.
see this is why black people are out here fukking losing.

You wanna go out here and start c00ning when in fact your job sets you apart from damn near 90% of people in terms of income.

Plus ATCs I know retire early AND EAT off of those pensions.

But no...your life is TOO busy...whatever that means...and you can't be bothered because you want to do more entertainment cause its "fun"

nikkas gotta realize real life ain't "fun"

shyt must be done and you're doing far more for society in your current role than trying to be an amateur DJ.

TS should leave......u cant take that shyt with u....u only get one life..........whats the point of being miserable and having money if u cant enjoy it?

OP is miserable cause he works a shytty shift.

Meanwhile he makes above average money in a world class city.

Dude is an idiot IMO.

All this takl about "starting a business" just with his certs.

If he ain't on some CISSP shyt then I dont wanna hear it...

you gonna be a shrimp fisherman @Stuntone ?

Why you going so hard against a brother tho. there are no useless jobs thats just how the shyt works. cmon fam stall him out.
nah man.

nikkas are being unreasonable. Thats what I don't get.

I'm NOT against entreprenuership...but OP ain't even on that lane yet.

He's all talk but no vision.

Thats why people hate our generation. No commitment to anything. They see the next man and think about the grass being greener and end up starting all over as middle aged men thinking they'll "get it right" the next time.

Its completely ridiculous.

OP ain't even considering STARTING his business NOW like most people do on the side and transitioning into it.

a nikka with no income in here popping shyt:mjlol:

the coli:russ:

OP ain't even making THAT much money. Lets be COMPLETELY serious here.

The average cats on Wall Street are holding down SEVERAL times that amount and they only quit cause they got the bread to do so.

100K? Lets just assume he ain't breaking 110K at most.

In DC? Aight...he's doing fairly well. Not too worried about much...then what?

Dude leaves this job to do.....what exactly? With what money? With what connections?

Ya'll are too quick to take this "do what you love" shyt to heart without thinking about how you can use it to your benefit...but OP just wants to go on a field trip home and "clear his mind" or something.

hmm... to the OP I would actually heed some of the earlier advice and apply to B-school. Try to get into one of the top ones. Its not super stressful and the biggest thing you'll get from it is the expansion of your network which will give you access to capital aka financing to start your business off the right way. That in and of itself is major. From what I hear the coursework isn't all that great, but the networking opportunities are major.

Lots of engineers who make the switch to b-school. Maybe take some time off, study for the GMAT, rock it, and apply this fall/winter. Try to get into one of the big ones, Harvard, Stanford, Wharton. Its not as hard as it sounds, there's a formula. Check out this program: http://www.ml4t.org/. B-school is work, but IMO compared to law/med school/STEM Ph. Ds, its basically one big party. Honestly, from talking to my friends it seems like a cake walk to me. But it sets you up for great opportunities. Your mindset will change, the way you approach challenges will change and your your opportunities will expand. You just have to make sure you go to right ones.

I understand how you feel, you want to use your youth to make as much headway as you can in your career.
