Honestly, go experiment with other things and see if they catch on. I tried to force the accounting thing, but I ultimately found that I was wasting my time trying to do something I hated. I even have a degree in it, but I realized I'd never be a great accountant because I found the subject so boring that I wouldn't bother keeping up with it. Making a switch to programming is the best thing I've ever done. i

Damn we followed similar paths. I have an accounting degree and thought I would be able to force my way through its inherent tedium, but it couldn't last. This year I lucked into a job doing tech support for a domain hosting company, and now am on the overnight shift where its not too busy and I have the time to learn and get my cert game up.

I also have a prescription now for the Addys, but that's another post for another time

I wrote a 20 page paper in one night, cracked out on Adderall. That was pretty much the craziest I've ever gotten with any sort of meds. I've also done them for non-school things, like watching movies or whatever. I do them less these days, now that I'm not in school.

Adderall makes me take the worst shyts though.

Yeah, accounting is unbelievably tedious, and I would never really be a great accountant because I don't particularly care for the field.
I would just have been mediocre in accounting because I'd be too bored to do the readings or whatever is necessary to remain competent... while I'd be competing against people who love accounting or at least can tolerate it to where they are constantly staying up on the latest developments and will go that extra mile to improve their skillset. On the other hand, with programming, I can literally do this all day and it feels like time is flying by. Something we all have to consider is that we will be at work for most of our lives, so why sit around doing something you hate? I feel like if you got to take drugs to tolerate what you're doing or if you just have an unbelievable dread for what you're doing, it's time to shift fields.
