Folks in here talking about his arrogance as being the problem here.
It’s not.
He should feel like his team is the best and even layer it with gamesmanship.
The problem is, it’s just a dead-end comment that he and his team don’t stand to benefit from. He should’ve gone all the way and said he doesn’t feel like there’s a team that can beat them. Not just the West, but the entire league. What’s the point in saying he’s not worried about the West and then make the Celtics out to be some huge threat? It doesn’t make any cotdamn sense to talk your team up, but then hit the brakes, especially when you look at it theoretically - they have to go through THREE teams in the West before they even meet whoever comes out the other side.
The culmination of the task of coming out the West is harder than beating one team from the East. To add to the fact he gives teams out West more incentive to beat them, which he wouldn’t do to the same degree if he just grouped all teams from both conferences into one. And even if they do make it to the final stage, he’s basically conceded in principle to whoever comes out of the East.
If you’re gonna talk shyt make it worth your while. Ja out here talking about he’s gonna rob the bank, and in the next breath say he’s not going to take all the money.
Ain’t no such thing as halfway crooks…
