the hood wasn't bumping Eminem. :yeshrug:

With that said, damn near everybody I knew that wasn't busy pretending to be or were actually from "The hood" or whatever was listening to emimen. Black, white or whatever else, from MMLP through to 8-Mile soundtrack.

And yeah, this is around the same time I was in Jackson MS getting into fights with nikkas cause I said Nas was better than Boosie.

you can only play so much at a family bbq

at a friends gathering bbq is the real barometer. only song you can prolly get away with by em is probably superman

A BBQ is not a barometer for judging who is listening to what or what's hot. V.I.C is a GOAT level rapper if that's the case because of "Wobble". Will Smith is hardly mentioned among GOATs, but "Summertime" is a BBQ classic.

you being obtuse. the bbq barometer is just used to explain people in the culture are not sitting around listening to his shyt amongst the culture. em has no cultural impact. his impact is pop related.

vic wobble and summertime are classics within the culture. what eminen song is a classic amongst us? you put an em son on and its a "ah i remember this song was huge" its not "ah this my shyt"

The only BS is that people use this to diminish anyone they ain't feeling. Again, nobody's playing Mos Def, Monch, Wu and a bunch of other artists at a BBQ. There's artists that simply don't resonate on that level. Doesn't lessen their impact.

And Eminem's isn't? :what: the fucc? lmao

Eminem's music is some of the most ignorant sh't ever released fucc outta here

No, it actually isn't. That's not to say that there isn't shock value or violence, it certaintly has that. But Em's music, especially during his initial run when he was most known for saying outrageous shyt had plenty of varience in the songs he made and put out commercially.

nikkas in the "trenches", meaning in the various war zones from city to city not listening to XYZ has less to do with wether they're good artists and more to do with the music being apporpriate for the setting they're in from day to day, which is usually going to be on some ignorant shyt.

nikkas acting like Eminem is Tech-9 or something. He was all over Mtv and Bet, even if you weren't actively checking for Em you still knew his songs stop it.

those nikkas are not popular and don't have much impact either if we being honest. i love them but call a spade a spade. mainly cacs gaf about wu. monch and mos were mainly underground acts. their impact is miniscule.
