How much of consumer price increases are due to legitimate increases in cost of goods sold, vs bytch ass suppliers unnecessarily raising prices simply because demand is high???

I work with tile and deal with architects, interior designers and builders all day long and warning people about delays and crazy long lead times on everything has become par for the course at this point.

Factories, shippers and US customs is all backed up.

There's also a literal shortage of shipping containers.

What if a breh invented pallets made from plastic waste
:ohhh:

Plastic pallets exist but are typically more expensive so volume users try to stay away. The way lumber is going though...

Hell
I used to do warehouse work back in the day, didn't know those little 10-12 dollar a hour jobs where that important.

No wonder they can't find work, they always go to agencies for help and no one stays...

What state you in OP? Dudes here talking 20 a hour Florida usually doesn't give that, much less for just warehouse help.

@DrBanneker do you need a degree you work in supply chain management?
What does a typical day look like for you?

There are degrees in supply chain management but I wouldn't say it is necessary and is rarely required on job apps. If you are in college or looking to do a masters, go for it (I did my MBA concentrating in SCM). A good way is to start studying for one of the certifications that doesn't require work experience. The CPIM Certification doesn't require industry work experience and the even better CSCP certification only requires three years of general business experience or a CPIM.

When is the Benjamin Bsnker biopic coming to Netflix?

Man I wish it would come though there have been people advocating that he was gay (no evidence one way or another; just he wasn't married)

Supply Chain cuts across all of business so a typical day is working with vendors based on company goals to manage supply including creating contracts, monitoring quality/on-time performance, or negotiating prices and new products. Some of the best experiences are developing new vendors, especially abroad, and dealing with how to set up a supply chain along with logistics to meet the needs of production, inventory, new product launches, etc.

It can be stressful and fast paced but you learn a lot and have to know a bit about finance, inventory management, logistics, international trade, legal contracts, and commodity markets.

Most of it from what I see is legitimate since you see it in the raw materials markets and also if a supplier doesn't play ball we bid it out or source with an alternative. A lot of it is not just raw costs thought but availability. People will pay to have it if they can't find it elsewhere.

So there are suppliers that are raising prices due only to goods shortages and not costs but that's Economics 101: if there is a shortage, people are going to raise prices until the quantity demanded is only the quantity supplied. Then the high prices attract new entrants and prices hopefully tank.

I'm in PA but we have plants in the Northeast, Midwest, and overseas I work with.
