I live in an area called Mount Airy. I never hear gunshots or feel unsafe. Like most cities the violence is in very specific pockets of the city
It's not NYC or Atlanta party wise but it's plenty of shyt to do, cheap housing, mad colleges to find women if you're in that age range, etc
Quick hour + 1/2 from both nyc and dc and flights to Atlanta and Miami can be had for less than $100 if you don't mind spirit airlines

..Fibburs and Carlettes,

damn these are deep cuts you rarely see ppl mention. Carlettes outdoor space was the first bar i went to post-covid outbreak

I'm New Jeruz born (Camden) and raised, but most of my family on both sides are either from or live in Philly going back generations.

Mt. Airy is wild lowkey. If you mind your business you would think it's a safe area, it's not tho lol. I used to live around 70th and Broad, that shyt was bad as fukk around there!

The good brehs of PHI
It's an affordable east coast city

I always wanted to move to a urban city city

How should I find good neighborhoods?

How do I find someone to show me around?

:picard: Why would you want to come here?

Just kidding.

Philly is low key a nice city.

The best neighborhoods for black people is Mt. Airy & Germantown. There are some nice parts of West Philadelphia as well. The hotspot RIGHT NOW is Lansdowne / Collingswood / Upper Darby / Drexel Hill. Suburb of Philly, still with a lot of Philly flavor southwest of the city.

King of Prussia mall is the best mall in America, IMO. It is everything a mall SHOULD be.

There's great African, Caribbean, African American restaurants.

A plethora of churches, mosques or Jehovah witness townhalls if that's your thing.

Riverdeck is the best club on Sunday nights during the summer.

Best food city in the country, IMO. They have a solid option for any and every cuisine.

Wherever you stay, you're good if you have good credit, a solid job that pays $55k or more and a decent car.

If you stay out of the way and don't act like an a$$hole... you should have a good time.

Summertime in Philly makes you forget about the other cold months when it's miserable AF outside.

The Sixers are good, I always have good time going to the game. If you got the bread, get a box. It's always lit.

The Eagles are sometimes good, the city bleeds green. There's a ton of sports activities.

The Phillies are okay... but it's a great place to grab crab fries and a cheesesteak.

Speaking of cheese steaks... Max's / Tony Luke's / Angelo's / Delassandro's. Those are your top tier, if interested.

Stay OUT of Kensington at all costs. The whole center city / east side of the city -- Port Richmond / Fishtown / Kensington is drug infested, white gentrified / white racist AF wasteland with some new buildings with breweries and bland food spots.

Philly is a dirty city. Trash everywhere. It sucks.

Philly is rapidly gentrifying. Especially around downtown. That's cleaner but far more commercial and white. It's sterile.

But there's a ton of homeless people that still hang around.

Philly has casinos if that's your thing. They just build a new one and it's NICE as hell.

The soul of Philadelphia has kind of left. That Musiq Soulchild Jill Scott Roots neosoul Philly blackness is gone. It just feels different around here.

If you're single, you can have a good life here. There's some good looking women, but they have attitudes. They are super sarcastic and very dismissive and defensive. They're not friendly like that. You have to basically stand your ground and let them feel you out for a few minutes. If you can survive their bullshyt attitudes, they'll soften up and be more friendly. I have no idea why they do this. They are pretty, but they ain't THAT pretty.

If you drive Lyft or Uber you'll feast. Lyft especially. They pay BIG bucks to drive people around.

The cost of real estate is going UP. White people, especially ones from NYC are moving down due to covid and they are screwing up the Philly flavor with their NYC bs.

That's all I got for now.

In terms of affordable property that's relatively safe and close to the city? It is very HOT in real estate market terms for black people.

The gospel:wow:. I remember talking to a jawn up in Lansdowne and it was such a peaceful experience. A mixture of Italians, Black folks, Asians, and Ricans. It was like this weird unity compared to how fukking segregated majority of Philly is. Upper Darby used to be my spot:banderas:. I remember going to the Sounds of Upper Darby and copping CDs and just chilling at the movie theater.

Damn man...I'm passport gang and yall got me wanted to go byke:mjcry:

Yeah man.

It was very diverse and really felt like the burbs back in the day.

It's basically an extension of West Philly now.
