One quick thing ados and like minded allies can bring to these groups is to radically alter the luncheon, brunch and the general boule peacock gathering culture that sometimes even goes on at the local level.
Legit one of the reasons HBCUs and our other black institutions are so bloated and stagnant is because of the black managerial class with their made-up titles that do nothing but attend these events with the rational being that they KNOW HOW TO FUNDRAISE.
I see someone already said it, but that's going to be the hard part at the top, dealing or not dealing with the donors.
All the boule and even local activist negroes know each other. That's the thing you realize when you get in these circles, no matter the level.
Even in a big city like New York, everyone at the black functions knows somebody that knows somebody. I can't go to one of these functions without someone knowing me or my family. Going against the grain on that social level is hard.
That's one of the reasons having strong black immigrant allies that are not tied to the church or sudeced by the boule or upper class is important.
I'm gonna bury my cycnicism and do like everyone else and join. We all need to, and start using the community apps all these white people use. That was another good take away from the conference.
