I'm not an oldhead, but after hearing this track I realize Hip-Hop has lost something

It has Nas on it :whew:

That beat rappers could just flow to, with the gun bars and punch lines that made you shake your head and :scusthov: after a dope line

This is ABSOLUTELY my favorite 50 Cent song and always has been.

Dapped and repped.

I agree but I disagree to some extent. It's actually a lot harder to find good music, especially for the older crowd that's not really in tune with the internet 24-7. With no radio play, no print ads, only finding videos online when you look for them/Google fav artists, it makes things much more difficult to know who or what's out there. That's what I think people mean when they say harder to find music. It's easily accessible but difficult to discover.

Yep, actually me and my stepdad was having this discussion. I grew up on 2000s Rap City, didn't even have internet until 2004. Obviously I wouldn't have known about a bunch of these rappers (Gucci, Cassidy, Tailb, Diplomats etc...) if it weren't for Rap City or the Radio. Hell albums don't even get promoted on TV period, no ads or anything. So a lot of times, I usually come across new artists either by accident or social media.

This climate of music consumption with the tech game is not for people cant adapt to it. There are people my age and older putting me onto new and dope music all the time...theres no excuse. I dont ever want to hear that "its hard to find good new music" excuse ever again from fossils. I find good new music to listen to everyday.

However, you won't find it unless you're constantly online. A lot of the older crowd still aren't constantly listening to music on their phones or joining all of these streaming services. They're definitely not downloading like that. The tech isn't marketed towards them either. And when they're online, it's for everyday use, not browsing for fun. Those are the fans that are alienated. That's why you have older rappers making music geared towards the youth, because the youth are the market using these services.

I'm 36 this year. My friends/peers have careers and aside from a couple of FB posts and IG pics posted, they're using the internet for their daily lives, not much for recreational use. The majority of them aren't visiting music sites, even if they "Like/follow" them on social media. I often see posts like "I didn't even know _____ had a new album." Or "When is the last time _____ put out music" not knowing that they released something last week. If you're not Beyonce, Jay or any of the superstar names, there's very little promotion. It's almost like you have to discover new music by accident. Radio and video are still the primary source of music promotion, and they've simply abandoned that method.

Yeah
Stop thinking what hoes like, and be a man! Hip Hop was at its best when it never see ked validation from outsiders.
Everything changes overtime breh.

It's not about bytches it's about being aware that things grow and progress whether we agree with it or not.

If nikkas can't accept it then...

shyt hardly changes
dont let people that try to be different fool you
cause its the same people that dont know what they are talking about
that will jump on the next wave immediately

rap music will never lose its basic elements ..even the new shyt has those elements.
just with people trying to act different over it ... they will change up again soon and claim thats ill too

with hundred/thousands of blogs out there like 1994hiphop that have high quality downloads, that "it's hard to find" excuse is complete bullshyt. they have full discographies and rare albums you've never heard of or forgot about from back then, not to mention forums like the Coli where cats are constantly making threads about all kinds of artists and albums that you can easily do a google search and find out their album names.
