Kobe definitely is entitled to maximize his earning potential. Only a handful of guys stay in the NBA doing post-retirement stuff and at a fraction of what they made as players. However though, you cant take up more then half of your teams cap and expect to contend. Plus keep in mind, between Dwight bolting, and these comments....other star players will look at him like " what I look like taking a paycut to sign here if you aint doing the same?"

It's a reason why the team with the best player in the NBA and 2 other star players that all took paycuts have been to the last 3 finals and won the last 2 of them. ALSO the team they played in the finals has another Legendary superstar named Tim Duncan who took less money so that the Spurs can remain competitive.
