yea, how bout this dude takes 20 million out of his bank account for his kids to inherit, just to play basketball. fukk OUTTA HERE :childplease:

Exactly, smh @ thousandaires trying to tell a Multi-millionaire how much money he should be willing to give up. Yes players who give up salary should be commended for sacrificing to make the team better, but it is 100% their choice.

Kobe is just being a p*ssy as usual. LeBron, D-Wade & Chris Bosh all took pay cuts for the betterment of the Heat and now they are 2 time (back to back) World Champions! Nothing wrong with getting paper & maximizing your profits, especially in the cutthroat professional sports industry, but if Kobe wants to win a another ring or two he should be willing to take a small pay cut which would allow the Lakers to get a competitive, formidable squad. Plus if Kobe & the L.A. Lakers are successful in winning more NBA championships, Kobe would make the lost revenue back (and even more) via new or existing endorsements.

Why would he lowball himself publically? That's not how you negotiate a contract. shyt is a business. You go in saying you want a billion, knowing full well you're okay negotiating down to half that.

If you say he's selfish, you're either a c00n or a cac. Lol @ nikkas choosing the white man over Kobe. They should pay him 30 mill again for all the revenue he's brought to this franchise + money under the table for emotional distress having to play with Kwame, Smush and Luke Walton in his prime.

He's delusional if he thinks he can be making $20-30 million a year with the new CBA.

He will be making between $10-15 million per season on a 2 or 3 year deal on his next contract.

if Kobe wants 20 mil....someone is gonna pay him 20 mil

the amount of revenue Kobe will bring to any team he goes to more than justifies his salary

he's still the biggest draw in basketball.....sorry LeBron

Would Kobe Bryant be willing to take a huge pay cut, possibly a one-year minimum salary worth $1.45 million, the ultimate financial sacrifice, to give the Lakers the best chance to rebuild?

The Kobe hate is becoming as retarded as the Kobe stanning. Why in fukking hell would he take a paycut? Any NBA superstar with a major franchise who sells out arenas during the regular season and playoffs is worth exponentially more than he is paid.

Well if he wants to keep making 30 mil, he's going to have a lot more emotional distress because they won't have money to sign anyone decent and no one is going to take less to play for a larry holmes Voltron.

These cats haven't negotiated anything with an employer other than the flavour of instant coffee in the break room, let alone shifts, let alone days, let alone contract negotiations.

Who goes to their boss and says "Hey listen, before we even talk, before we have any type of dialogue, I'm willing to take less than you're offering".

:what:

Tim Duncan took a paycut, Kevin Garnet took a paycut, Kobe your ass needs to take a paycut or you get no help. This is all just posturing anyways, he knows damn well he'll take a hefty paycut.

If he's all about championships, he would take one. Most Lakers fans seemed to be under the impression that he would be taking a cheap deal so they could get bring in stars. If he's still expecting to get paid, there's no reason for them to be excited about the 2014 free agent class.

So his team can maximize its cap space to sign players who can help him

Why can't the Lakers sign anyone to deals more than the minimum? Cause Kobe's salary is HALF the salary cap and you can't do shid with one player eating up that much room.

You nikkas talk about the franchise generating revenue. YES, they generate it and lots of it. They have a TV deal and all that. So what? The fact of the matter is you need quality to win and quality comes at a price that is above minimum salary 2nd round picks and journey men to win.

Duncan took a pay cut from $21 million to $10 million. KG did the same thing last summer too.

If Bryant really wants #6 , he should realize the need to put his money where his mouth is and sacrifice for the betterment of the organization to put pieces around him. It really is that simple.

He is delusional and doesn't understand the new CBA. The Lakers will probably work out an extension so he doesn't reach free agency but they sure as hell ain't paying him anywhere near $20 million/yr next contract.

They don't make the league minimum and neither have ever been as box office as Kobe Bryant.
