That's weird that you feel like you won't appreciate classic hip hop records anymore because you like the original records that were sampled more. What about the rhymes? :aicmon:
How old are you? And how long have you been listening to hip hop?
Don't take it the wrong way :whoa:
I've always thought you were an excellent poster. But this doesn't add up to me. People who grew up on Marvin Gaye never lost interest in albums like What's Going On.

that's not exactly what i said. here's what i said in quotations:

it means that hip hop isn't interestin' to me anymore. it doesn't surprise me anymore. it's been very complacent for years now and it's just redundant

as far as the classics, i never say never but i don't know because i enjoy listenin' to so many of the original songs that many of the hip hop songs i've loved have sampled from and to me nothin' is better than the original. sure, a few flips of a sample are cool here and there but it's nothin' compared to hearin' the actual record from which that hip hop song was sampled from.
new music? new music could be old music if it's somethin' i've never heard. new hip hop? yes, i'm done with

the rhymes are cool when written some type of creativity and wittiness of course but close to the last 2 decades, hip hop as a movement has been some of the most watered down and down right horrible hip hop music of all time. that's not to say it ain't been some good music here and there but across the board as a genre it's been rather redundant and stale

i'm old, i've been listenin' to hip hop since n.w.a. :old:

i came up listenin' to old stuff my mom and dad were listenin' to like curtis mayfield, james brown, santana, marvin gaye, sly and the family stone, minnie riperton, the temptations, sam cooke, the beatles, donny hathaway, elton john, al green, ltd, spandu ballet, fleetwood mac, aretha franklin, ray charles, maze featuring frankie beverly, rufus featuring chaka khan, smokey robinson, dionne warwick, barry white, isaac hayes, the o'jays, teddy pendergrass and the list goes on etc

Theres always good music coming out fam, Mega, Ras Kass, The LOX, Krit, YG, Budden, Rae with his latest project, Gibbs, Quik, Mos Def and Marvin Gaye Blend tape has kept me satisfied and now we got Havoc, Ghostface, new Wu Tang dropping. I don't listen to none of that radio mainstream fukk shyt nor do I rely on them to feed me what I wanna hear so hip hop in 2014 been solid. Fukk Grammies and Platinum Plaques

if new music were to stop coming out i would still be busy getting my hands on old mixtapes, ordering them online, getting vinyls for collectables, vinyls for exclusive instrumentals...i'll never be done, regardless of quality decline, regardless of anything.

I definitely think the genre is weaker than it used to be, the mainstream/radio/club hip hop is beyond terrible, that said i'll always love it, even if I decided to stop listening to new people and just stick with shyt I know and love. I feel you on not liking the whole "look for it" angle, I'm a grown ass woman with a job and life shyt to take care of, I don't have two hours to sit down and go thru blogs, twitter, soundlcoud, etc every other day...,but, every now and then I do get put onto something :banderas: and it keeps me going.

I think the best way to approach the genre in the current age is to expect to only LOVE :noah: about 15% of new music, "fukk with" :ehh: about another 25%, and :camby: the rest in the bushes

it ain't got that same excitement it once had. for me, listenin' to it now has became almost like a chore just to find somethin' new and even when i do find somethin' new and kinda of cool, it only sticks to me for like a minute. it ain't got no "stayin' power" as barry white use to say. hip hop is stale and played now (has been for close to 20 years) but it's now to the point where it's just flat out a parody of what it once was :camby:

I've been feeling like this since late 06, but :russ: at you saying for 20 years FOH nikka

Nah stick around, ive had those periods but it never made me not love the classics,if you can stop loving the classics you grew up on I gotta question if you ever really loved it:scust:....Ive been lucky enough to always have a rapper come out of nowehere to make me a fan and bring back that excitement for me:mjcry:...most recently its been Migos:banderas:...but then again im somebody who never overdosed on the music to where I need constant excitement every week like sum nikkas who download new shyt every day:why:...so a little excitement here and there keeps me from feeling like the sky is falling in:manny:.
i feel like this year was weak as fukk, but this past month migos , Krit, and mick Jenkins got me loving the genre again....two completely different sides of the spectrum, but both making heat.

fukk all these other posters
it used to be hard to find wack shyt
now its hard to find good shyt
it used to be cChristmaswith listening to new shyt ... like
"and this? .... oh shyt and THIS! WHAT THIS TOO ... oh Detroit shyt!?! damn Alabama's got shyt like THIS... "
everywhere you turn was dope shyt

now its like ...
Detroit VS everybody .... meh ... these cats are all average open mic dude
or someone defending some shyt like " nah thats his lane though, wiz khalifia isnt supposed to make the songs you're talking about"

all the holding hands and giving people a pass opened the game up for american idol tryouts on the main stage
nikkas like jon b would be megastar status in this time period
