For real. Dude said earlier that there's a million rappers, and that's a large part of the problem. A million rappers and a million producers, much of which sound mediocre and identical. Its too watered down and awful for me to be researching for non-crap. That's a needle in a haystack... I'll check for the few of the ones I been a fan of for years that still put out good music, and even that number is dwindling. I could care less about hearing new stuff now, I've heard enough over the years to know that I've long since heard the best hip hop will ever have to offer

I definitely think the genre is weaker than it used to be, the mainstream/radio/club hip hop is beyond terrible, that said i'll always love it, even if I decided to stop listening to new people and just stick with shyt I know and love. I feel you on not liking the whole "look for it" angle, I'm a grown ass woman with a job and life shyt to take care of, I don't have two hours to sit down and go thru blogs, twitter, soundlcoud, etc every other day...,but, every now and then I do get put onto something and it keeps me going.


I think the best way to approach the genre in the current age is to expect to only LOVE about 15% of new music, "fukk with" about another 25%, and the rest in the bushes

I tried to stop listening to hip hop in 97' due to the eexplicit content and me moving back to the uk with me being young. Soon as i came back i copped the 7 day theory again

shyt the greatest rapper ever is NaS and the greatest voice ive ever heard is Marvin Gaye.

I love urban music too much to ever listen to anything else.

No Offense to anybody here but I feel that "Let Cacs have it, Lets create something else" mentality is WEAK. Thats some passive shyt. Thats like you building your own house from the ground up and you allowing guests to come in there and they start to defect it. They get comfortable and You allow them to stay without hardly saying anything so knowing that they bring other people in there to decimate it even more. Now keep in mind THIS is your house but instead of laying down the rules and actually standing your ground to keep it intact You're gonna leave and build another one from scratch. Man thats weak to me.

We built this shyt, We have to FIGHT to keep the culture intact. For starters, We have to re-build the integrity back. Kick out the c00ns and the Culture Vultures is a start of things. Anybody that goes on some shyt when its some serious shyt involved with our people, We revoke them passes. I don't care who it is and how much you stan for em. stop championing really "mediocre" artists based off their hustle and how their "getting money" instead of critiquing their art. Hip Hop seems to be the only Genere that justify many artists based off they hustle instead of their craft

One of the key factors on why things are out of whack is that is that Fans stop being that. FANS. Instead nikkas became groupies for another nikkas success and wallet and try to live vicariously through them . Back in the old days, We use to actually hold artists accountable for the bullshyt moves

I remember hearing about Willie D calling out Eazy E for his opinions of the 92 King Verdict when Eazy tried to go on some shyt defending one of those pigs from the Rodney King beatings


I remember how we use to push artists like Nas. We also have to push our artists to create game changing music. Imagine if we didn't push Nas during that whole beef with Jay how his legacy would have been. If we would have been on some "Nastradamous didn't sell but We going platinum though, We eatin though!" bullshyt. We wouldn't have been blessed with Stillmatic, Godson, The Lost Tapes, The N album, Life is Good, etc

Its gonna be a long fight because hip hop done became a open door to all forms of fukkery but I'd rather go out swinging than allow vultures to feast off the work. Cleaning up our own house and weavering the fukk bowys out is the way to start shaping this up

I have no problem with talking shyt but I wish it was some of these younger cats coming up. When these older guys do it they come off as old and bitter and then they wonder why younger heads dont fukk with them
