Kasich's strategy is built around winning Ohio and preventing Rubio from winning Florida.
By virtue of accomplishing the above, Rubio has to leave the race.
Kasich will count on the majority of Rubio's support flocking to him as the race pivots to much more moderate states where Rubio was polling well and the Rubio campaign was showing strong numbers.
Kasich finishes the primary season with the most momentum and takes this to a brokered convention where the party coalesces around him and wins the nomination.

Yes, Cincy and the counties around it man. Really all of southern Ohio. I'll never forget as a kid, my pops took me to a Bengals game, we driving down 71 going back to Columbus from Cincy and one of the fields off the highway had a cross burning in the field. Pops gave me that talk about how racism is still alive and how bad it was in Ohio.
