That what I did at first in CC. Now I'm switching to HBCU next fall for law degree. Then law school, then so on.

CC is cool but their no growth at all, To be honest I have so many things lined up that school is the secondary fall back plan, hopefully I will never need to use my degree. Second cats out their are sorry as shyt going to school four years while not working at all FOH. When the real world hit they going to be hurt so bad. By time I finish all my schooling I will be making 50k just off finding better jobs. The next job I'm trying to grab is 19$ hour. In 2 years I'll be in management positions just off hard work and knowing people, shyt not as hard as cats make it seem. So the end goal for me is to be 27 with law degree, blue-collar job experience ,white-collar job experience, small business owner, management experience, debt paid off by military after I go in at 25 with my signing bonus.

That the fallback plan if I don't become famous music producer, which I probably will since I have the gift.

It's just hard work , no sleep, more hard work.

Thats the thing with the Business Management Degree. More than likely during school you will be working some dead end job, thing is during your 4+ yrs of school to get that degree you would have then racked up 4+ years experience in that company, so by team you got the degree you should be able to use that to either get a management role or transition to a role on the corporate side.

Well OP didnt answer my questions but based on those degrees, if you have more than 2 years of study left, I would say focus heavy on networking or finding some type of internship so that you already have experience lined up once you get the degree. The degree itself isn't the problem, finding related work that pays well is the issue.

I'm conflicted with getting a degree in Human Services or Africana Studies.

You annoy me sometimes.

However, I would recommend a degree in HS. Not only will you be able to afford yourself a decent wage on a local, state or federal level but you can directly work one on one with people, making a direct impact on their lives. That's what I'm doing what I do now even though I'm moving away from civilian with and over to helping soldiers and military personnel directly.

A community college doesn't yield a bachelors degree, only an associates. If you have all your gen ed's, then you need to just find a 4 year college.

i know that. the point is a regionally accredited associates vs a nationally accredited bachelors. im not sure which holds more weight. finishing the bachelors at a local uni will be too expensive.

Not everyone is interested in that. Also, I love dealing and working with the community and want to venture into the political spectrum.
You should look into economics if you want to go into politics or anything related to law.

It gives you a great understanding of how the world works from a quantitative perspective. You gotta be moderately decent in math.

Ugh...

You know you can get any degree and work for a non-profit right? Why waste your time with a degree in human services? Why waste your time with a degree in Africana Studies unless you gonna go all the way to PH.D level and even then...nikka you can do that anytime.

Look man...

Going to college is paying your debt to society to become an income-earning member of society at this stage of the United States economy. It's not about what you like, what you wanna do, or even what you good at.

Go get you a degree with the highest ROI and the SHORTEST AMOUNT OF TIME. The average person finishes a 4 year degree in 7 years at this point.

Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems or Accounting. These are the only degrees that are worth it (Accounting not so much since you still gotta pass the CPA and work at a Big 4 to even move up in your career, but hey it's a steady job.)You don't like math or you suck at it...

Math isn't that hard...

Don't get a degree in Finance...you will be selling insurance and making not shyt unless you going to Harvard or some shyt. Don't get a degree in Biology...shyt is fukking worthless unless you going to be a Dr or a Nurse...and even then why waste your time? You trying to get a degree and get out right?

Don't get a degree in Mathematics or Physics...you don't get an actual employable skill.

And don't go to law school...please don't...that's the ultimate "I don't know what to do with my life..." move

Heed my words and do as I say or you will be miserable and wish you never went to college

OP.... do NOT, i repeat, do NOT listen to this BS. i work inside a lot of rich peoples homes and the most common degrees i see hanging up on the wall are marketing, management, and psychology. none of which are particularly difficult majors. dont buy into this shyt spewed here that only a few degrees are worth anything and you may as well not go to school at all if you dont get one. hell my manager is a damn history major.

get your education breh. you can find people with only a degree in psychology in any industry you can imagine. the key is dont depend on just your degree to get you a job. try to get some experience in whatever it is you want to do beforehand. try to network with people, try to get an internship, etc...

though i probably would stay away from africana studies, any degree you get will help you.

This is math bruh...

Psychology has one of the worst ROI. The amount of debt you have to rack up just to get a job in a high paying field like IO is crazy. You might as well not even do it unless you love doing it.

My advice is if you wanna be debt free and not crying because you got quarter million in debt.

you dont have to only apply to job fields that match your degree fool. you dont have to rack up a ton of debt if you go the community college route, then a cheap 4 year. you can get a job with a two year a company that will give you tuition assistance for the bachelors. hes got options he just has to think outside the box a little

Lol. What are you talking about? Unless your comparing an AA from Devry to an AA from a real community college, you're not even on the right track.

Here's what you do: go to LinkedIn and search for profiles of people who have your dream job. Look at what they majored in, and where they interned or worked at. Then go look up the local cc or 4 yr colleges near you to see who has the programs you need/want. To keep costs down, finish at a cc and meet with a counselor early on to let them know you plan to transfer so they can arrange things for you, like meetings with professors at the 4 yr level.

At the 4 yr level:

Always
talk to your professors during office hours. 90% of college success is making connections--people who complain about not getting a job and having all this debt are always those who never talked to their professors outside of class.

Hit up the career center and stay on them for jobs/internships. If you can get a position on campus that allows you to develop the necessary basic skills for your field, all the better (like, working in the veterans office, or advising).

Present your work at student conferences on campus, if they have them.

Keep your grades up. Cs get degrees, but nowadays, folks are asking for your transcripts so they can see your grades and if you really graduated from a real college, not Devry or University of Phoenix.

Writing and public speaking skills are a must. You can't communicate? Nobody wants anything to do with you.

Be focused, yet flexible. Always be on the lookout for opportunities.

Study abroad for a semester or a school year if possible. It's usually the same price as your tuition if arranged through the school.
