Man I want a Passat wagon so bad... 04-05 TDI...

That reliability bruh. Cant have wifey stranded, this is gonna be her car. Mfers got a DIY for replacing the oil pump... cause the shyt was designed bad

fukk that

I do like that 07+ 2.0T wag too. I feel like the newer ones are more reliable too. My buddy has an MK5 GTI, loves it. No problems. I am gonna test drive one and hope I hate it, mite make a bad decision brehs :sadcam:
I'm sure a gti would go over well with wifey

:heh:

I've driven a b5 4 motion passat when they came out the build quality scared me off the lot. they're a nightmare from what I've heard and seen.

the gti' are really nice, I've driven an mk5, and I really enjoyed it, they seem like very simple cars and the 2.0 is bullet proof, so it's a win, win.
If I had to buy a car right now for a dd it would be a gti or diesel, seriously.
(I really need a work truck though )

I would stay away from suv, I've read the crv are prone to suspension/control arm damage.

I would suggest an allroad but that's a whole other realm, but you're a bright guy, do some reading and you can't lose. they're really reliable if they're sorted, truly last of the great wagons.

they're a little boring but have you driven a volvo?

Man FSI motor is shyte too. VWAG is out. How are these guys charging so much and they cant design a damn engine

My B8 has been trouble free, but I know that hasn't been the experience for everyone. I'm just past 50k miles now. I'll be picking up a B8 S4 this spring though.

the 2.0 is actually an old vw engine, but the fsi technology is new. they're doing away with fsi from what I've read though.

They switched from FSI to TSI in 08. TSI has been problem free. I think my buddy's GTI is TSI. They've had it for years w/o issue. There are *some* TSI Passats in our price range so I will def give those a try. Audis are def out... w/my luck I would get a lemon

Volvos are out. Too pricey, flaky

My list so far is weird but I think it could work

Toyota Matrix
Mazda3 hatch
Mazda6 hatch/wagon
VW Rabbit (CR recommends it)

Considering leasing something new as well if the prices are right. Lot of decent new cars for good rates.

I would definitely look into leasing if you won't be doing a lot of driving and you don't want to get hit with a big note. Hell, you might be able to save up some money if the lease is really low.

Maybe swing a Subaru Legacy Wagon

vw golf gti/ diesel (avoid their wagons except the brand new diesel)
