Wannabe from the bottom. Majority of Californians live better than most but want to portray something they aren't. Baltimore, for example, is full of people who really live in the trenches. And demographically, it's true urban living. California sells this image of hood/urban living all through the media, but the reality is it's 95% non-black, suburbia. The women of all races are white-washed sell outs (I mean real WHITE-WASHED, not how you dress or talk but your soul). Yaw must not be black talking like Cali is this great place. It's overrated in every category for real black folk. I hate that Cali ruined Atlanta too with their bougieness.

LOL @ Safe parts. California is majority "safe parts". What's considered the hood in Cali wouldn't be the case somewhere else. But as I've said before, I can see why Cali is such a big deal on the Internet and why so many people like it. Wannabes can thrive there. I understand the logic, really I do. Everywhere else is the sticks or boondocks, so yes its easier to consolidate people and have a "safe" city as you put it.

Hell yeah. If you could get street credibility and get that respect and attention (namely from females) that someone from the real trenches has to actually earn, of course you gonna love it. I don't even think these younger cats from out here are even really trying to portray that extra grimey image anyways, if anything they're embracing the party culture. You can't discount that there still aren't hoods out here that they're coming from at the same time either though. There are still a couple pretty bad pockets of poverty sprinkled throughout the bay, a few spots in Richmond come to immediate mind. It might not even be as bad as some places that you're comparing it to, but being there even during the daytime, I still have my senses on high alert.
