Do u walk around dressed like the Fu-Schnickens and huddle around garbage pails full of burning trash too

Do ALL of your beats sound like some 90s shyt

Cmon brae

If he really wanted to pay homage to the 90s he would do something original like artists in the 90s did. nikkas adapted all kinds of crazy narratives/identities during this era... dogs, kung fu masters, Colombian drug lords, Iranian ayatollahs, Blaxploitation antagonists... and likewise there was a correspondent wide range of sound. So if his whole thing is to emulate the 90s hes not doing a good job. Hes emulating a very small piece of it and not really doing his music or the artform any favors. Like Ghost said in 95

Nah but I did have a video in mind that I wanted to do around a trash can fire :ohhh:

we not rockin avirex jackets rappin about ki's in the mpv's blowin trees across seas but the influence is there...we keep it simple

here's a track off our first mixtape

ain't no labels checkin for us mannn :sadbron:

Haha its iight buddy, you should follow Joey badass and become a carbon copy of the westcoast 90s sound but in NEW YAAAAWK :krs:, That would be soooo diferent and new :steviej: ,im sure some indie label would fall in love with the idea and pick it up :troll:

Back to the thread tho. Overall I find it funny how ya nikkas is defending this kid now, this the same shyt ya homos wanted to kill me for back when I was saying J.coles "average college guy" gimmick is awfully wild for a 27 year old man who has graduated 6 years ago to spit about. When I called J.Snooze boring ya wanted to kill me back then too :yeshrug: .

Then when he dropped his weedplate of a album everyone hopped on that J.cole sucks wave. I expect the same for this Joey Badass kid :beli:, I can asure you half of ya prolly didnt even liten to his mixtape more than 3 times now. Let alone actually becoming a fully blown Joey B stan in the future, his shyt jus dont work :comeon:

But hey what do I know :troll:

Son its an era before him ..its original to HIM cause most people aint doin the shyt in his age bracket or this day n age and none of that shyt.. and dude is doin a fine job cause I played some shyt of his for nikkas I know who all grew up on it and came up in that era and noone even knew he was a new artist...especially when it comes to tracks like "suspect" n such...u say everybody had different lanes and was different...no..there was people here n there that was completely different but for the most part multiple different artists took up a certain "lane"...there was MULTIPLE artists doin g funk which made It a lane...MULTIPLE artists doin gangsta rap which made It a lane...MULTIPLE artists doin mafioso rap...MULTIPLE artists doin conscious rap...MULTIPLE artists on that Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief tip...etc etc...it was A LOT of diversity but not EVERY SINGLE ARTIST did somethin out of this world different...they had lanes for more shyt then than they do now..thats the difference between then and now..more shyt got recognized and had ability to be recognized...the lil nikka doin what he do and he had to do research to do it...its not perfect but I will tell u this theres artists that came out during that era who try but cant even capture that "sound" as well as him...real talk..

Its not original to him. Original = he created it. He is just biting shyt everyone else isn't up on. That is no better than biting shyt everyone is up on.

And yes there were a lot of copycats in the 90s. But there were also a lot of originators. This guy is a 90s copycat 20 yrs after the fact. nikkas didnt give Mic Geronimo a pass for biting Nas in 94; why should we give this dude a pass for biting the whole 90s sound now? Biting is never cool, no matter how much you like what is being bitten
