Yesterday marked the 19th anniversary of the day that Tupac was shot. For the uninitiated I am going to do my best to explain the background of the incident and the events leading up to it. It's a long read and I don't care if 0 people read it, I wanted to type it.

19 years ago today Mike Tyson beat Bruce Seldon in a 1st round knockout. After the fight Tupac and company got in a fight with a young man named Orlando Anderson, the nephew of Keith "Keffe D" Davis who was a prominent member of the Southside Crips.

During the beef between Death Row and Bad Boy (sometimes referred to as the east coast/west coast beef) the Southside Crips were paid by Sean "Puffy" Combs (now known as Diddy) for protection while they were on the west coast. Some attributed this relationship to extortion but most accounts would say this was a cordial relationship. At the time Bad Boy was being extorted on the east coast by Walter "King Tut" Johnson who was notorious stick-up kid and member of a street gang known as the Black Mafia Family who wanted Tupac to sign with Bad Boy Records and Tupac basically hit them with the :childplease:. In fact, Tupac's beef with Bad Boy is largely the result of his reluctance to be extorted by these guys, which also resulted in the first shooting of Tupac in November of '94 at the Quad Record Studios

Fast forward a year and Tupac is being released on bail after signing to Suge Knight/Death Row. Tupac and Suge Knight both have a mutual disdain for Sean "Puffy" combs. Suge's beef with Puffy stems from a shooting at a club in Atlanta where Suge's friend Jake Robles was killed.

When Bad Boy was on the west coast Puffy linked up with a group who had a mutual disdain for Death Row . . the Southside Crips. If you look back at the Dr. Dre and Eazy-E beef, you'll see that many of the people in Eazy-E's "Real Muthaphukkin' G'z" video are Southside Crips (Eazy-E was a Kelly Park Crip. Side Note: Snoop was a Rollin' 20s Crip). Suge and Death Row kept a large entourage of Mob Piru Bloods, many of Suge's closest friends were given a chain and medallion with the Death Row logo on it. Puffy offered a reward for anyone who could bring him a Death Row medallion. This resulted Death Row 'weed carrier" Travon Lane getting jumped by Orlando Anderson and his cohorts at the Foot Locker in the Lakewood Mall

Now fast forward back to September 7th. Tupac, Suge Knight are traveling to Vegas to catch the Tyson fight. They arrive to the MGM with a large entourage, (Suge Knight paid for their tickets under the guise of a charity youth program). In typical Tyson fashion the fight is over as quick as it started. Tupac is scheduled to perform at an after-party that was going to be held at Suge Knight's Club 662, this was suppose to be the official after-party where Tyson would be partying after the fight. Upon exiting the MGM Travon Lane spots Orlando Anderson and points him out to Tupac. Tupac approaches him and asks the rhetorical "You from the south?" before swinging on him. As Orlando Anderson falls to the ground he grabs Tupac's chain (ya, apparently this guy has a thing for grabbing chains). Tupac reaches down to retrieve his chain and his bodyguard, Frank Alexander, pushes him out of the way just before a stampede of Death Row's entourage begin to kick Orlando Anderson's head in

Tupac and company begin to make their way to the exit, attracting a crowd of followers as they pass through the casino floor. They empty out into a caravan of cars and Tupac heads to his hotel room at the Luxor to change before the show he's scheduled to perform at. Realizing there's a potential for trouble . . or perhaps just wanting to go without her, Tupac insists that his fiance, Kidada Jones (daughter of Quincy Jones) wait at the hotel room. Suge Knight asks Tupac to ride with him.

They get pulled over by some bicycle cops for riding without plates and playing loud music. While pulled over they attract the attention of some females in a car. Tupac apparently insists these girls head to the club. These girls were making a scene which resulted in a spotlight on the caravan of cars. They pull up to a light at approximately 11:15 PM, a white Cadillac pulls up alongside them and shots are fired. Tupac is hit 4 times . . then he moved to Cuba

On May 29th, 1998 Orlando Anderson was killed at a car wash in Compton

If you got to this point, thanks for reading

Look at the cover my nikka...a lot of people back then seemed to think it was for shock value but it's a story being told on just the album art alone.

I made a post about it a while back, it's long winded but thoroughly explains the "Martyrdom" of Pac and how/why against all odds was necessary.

You got a lot of people on here, especially with that doc dropping drawing a distinction between Pac being a street smart nikka or not when it was deeper than that...I made a long post about it a while back that went into the martyrdom of 2pac and why a record like against all odds was necessary.

Wouldnt he go back to jail for violating his parole ?!
Even if he remained alive after the shooting because of the bullet that touched his lung he would be D.O.C 2

Its fukked up :mjcry:
I guess the best scenario for his legacy happened that night
