In an absolute stunner Josh Allen has been named MVP over Lamar Jackson despite not making All-pro first team (First time since 1987)

Exactly it nasty shyt. That’s part of the reason I don’t watch as much NBA nowadays

“Derrick Henry is the real reason the ravens offense runs the ball so well :skip:

*ignores the ravens leading the league in rushing yards every year with Lamar no matter who is on the offensive line or in the backfield while Lamar is the only constant along with the team never spending any money at receiver*

You’d think the nfl would’ve noticed the toxic effect that it’s had on the nba with 15-20 years of coverage being pure negativity and killed that shyt dead as soon as it starts.

You either make it a stats award or an opinion award :manny:

They already made it a QB award. So just give it to the QB with the best stats every year and call it good.

But last year they gave it to a QB who was #9 in total TDs and #6 in total yards. With the worst stat line of any QB to win the in the last 20 years. So it is what it is.

Deserved it in 2019. Deserved it this year. Ain't deserve it last year. End if the day he should have 2 MVPs and that's what he's got.

I don't think it's a crime that Josh Allen won MVP. I could have seen it go either way.

But, I will say this is why you can't always compare MVP votes from different seasons. You are correct that Lamar did not have the gaudy stats last year and that those that voted for him or thought he deserved MVP (myself included) focused on the lack of supporting cast he had on the offensive side of the ball.

However, there is one big difference between this year and last year. There wasn't a QB last year that was having an historic season like Lamar did this year. It is not an apples to apples comparison. If Lamar had statistics similar to Josh, that argument would hold more weight.

With that said, I am fine with Allen winning MVP as if people aren't doing some revisionist history b.s., people were saying the Bills would take a big step back this year and many had them finishing third in the AFC East. I think Allen or Lamar (even Barkley) all had valid arguments.
I agree with most of what you're saying but I don't think preseason expectations should matter. Especially considering how wrong people are every preseason. Somehow believing the Bills were the third best AFCE team doesn't make his season more impressive.

It's not a performance vs preseason expectations award. Not a performance vs postseason expectations award.

Lamar is most deserving in a season with an unusually high number of deserving candidates. Allen won because people want to handicap the score.

On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.
eagles offense runs through the best RB in the league, not hurts.

he also plays in the NFC. all the best QBs are in the AFC, only one of them can go to the super bowl
He almost won the SB in dominant fashion without Barkley. Actually makes my point stronger.
Anyone who watches football know that Philly would probably gone 17-0 with Lamar or Allen at QB. He got the easiest job of any QB in the league this year and rarely look impressive.

It's like saying Brock Purdy is better than Lamar or Allen because he been to a Super Bowl and almost won and they haven't. Nobody actually believe that. Nobody would believe that even if he won.
No one questioned anything you posted, which none of it has to do with my point. Never said he was better then anyone, so telling me what Lamar or Allen, “probably”, does with the Eagles roster makes no sense. Also, “it’s like saying…”, isn’t WHAT I’m saying.

What I’m saying: if Hurts was white, MEDIA will be going overboard with how great he is because of 2 SB appearances.

I feel like you're purposely pretending like you don't get it because there is no way as an adult you don't understand nuance. Last season there was no one in the running who was doing anything dominating statistically in the same way Lamar and Saquon were this year. Ain't nothing in life ever one thing or another. If you prefer it to be the same argument every season regardless of context I don't know what to tell you and no one here can help you.

The reason why people though Lamar was MVP worthy this year is because he literally performed on a level that no other QB has ever with 4,000 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, 900 rushing yards, less than 5 interceptions, and a top 4 all time QBR. It took HISTORICAL ALL TIME regular season stats for him to be in 2nd place this season and for some reason that bothers you. Sometimes stats is the reason for the MVP if the stats are overwhelming and other times there's taking wins and team performance into mind. That's basically the choice between Lamar and Josh for THIS season.

It makes all the sense in the world for people to think someone who is performing at an all time clip to be MVP. The same way if Saquon broke the rushing record his stats would've been a legit argument because it would've been an ALL TIME performance. Next season it can be like it was last year aka the standard where everyone has to use the wins and team performance/standing as a buffer to the statistics.

Why can't no one explain how Lamar won last year with avg stats? 🤔

None of the last year's candidates, including LJ, would be in the running this year with the same resumes.

Some years you have multiple players putting up #s on top teams and someone gets left out despite a good season. Some years you don't and end up with a meh MVP.

Even then, you don't need to defend last years outcome to have an issue with this year. I'm not an LJ stan.

I already said multiple times that Lamar should have won this year. And he 100% would have won this year if he hadn't won last year.

Voters are inconsistent and narrative driven. They pick and choose based on what narrative they want to push any particular season. Lamar benefited from that last year, lost out because of it this year.

Are people forgetting the ravens underperformed? If lamar and the ravens locked up the division earlier like they was supposed to he probably wins mvp. Ravens were expected to run thru the season considering the acquisition of henry on top od their already stacked roster. Bills overperfomed given the talent on their roster. Most if not everyone in here had them losing to the chiefs and Detroit. That's the very definition of most valuable player

This makes no sense, overperfoming expectations given talent should definition be taken into consideration. Bills doesn't have one 1000 yard wr, mid ass defense barely got a 1000 yard Rusher( he got it week 18 :dead:) , they overperfomed which is the same reason lamar won last year btw.

The downplaying of James Cook for example is hilarious. This is what I'm talking about when I say handicapping. They'll tear the whole Bills team down to build Allen up. Crazy how Bills managed to beat the Ravens in the postseason without him playing great.

I don't care about preseason predictions I'm sorry.

Last, let's not forget Bills had one of the worst strength of schedules in the league. Likely part of the reason losing some talent didn't hurt as much.

Ravens underperformed because of their defense tho it was like one of the worst in the league and technically according to epa

No. Saying the Bills over performed expectations and then attributing it all to value Allen added is crazy.

Like, didn't the Bills defense intercept Mahomes twice and hold him under 200 yards passing?
