In an absolute stunner Josh Allen has been named MVP over Lamar Jackson despite not making All-pro first team (First time since 1987)

:snoop: at all the goofy azz posters saying last season Lamar stats were avg so the MVP should’ve went to Dak or Josh

then u ask them same goofy’s …”well who was 1st team all-pro QB” ?
It's NBA talk culture with MAGA rhetoric of saying baseless surface-level shyt. Without providing accurate details and hoping their audience don't ask key follow up questions.

They'll say some BS of Lamar not deserving the 2023/2024 MVP. You ask them who deserved it and why....it'll be nothing but BS
Some folks online are trying to re-litigate the 2019 MVP award too. We got people in here “just asking questions” and then ignoring it entirely when people debunk said bad faith arguments about last year’s MVP. It reminds me of Kobe stans trying to still argue the 2006 mvp race where he finished a distant 4th.

There are a few others I disagree with, but I understand their take and don't mind having a conversation
The rest who are ignorant, I just ignore.

Very likely just white dudes ragebaiting on a predominately hip-hop forum on a sports topic that has elements of race

You either make it a stats award or an opinion award :manny:

They already made it a QB award. So just give it to the QB with the best stats every year and call it good.

But last year they gave it to a QB who was #9 in total TDs and #6 in total yards. With the worst stat line of any QB to win the in the last 20 years. So it is what it is.

Deserved it in 2019. Deserved it this year. Ain't deserve it last year. End if the day he should have 2 MVPs and that's what he's got.

respectfully disagree
You’re leaving out the fact that he was 13-3 which was the best record in the NFL
he rushed for 800 plus yards, which was number 1 among QB’s & top 25 among RB’s
he was top 5 in passer rating
he was top 10 competition %
etc..etc… while sitting out in plenty of games due to them, blowing their opponents out and not playing the final game of the season = if that didn’t happen, he easily would’ve thrown for 4000 pass yards ; 30 TD and 1000 rush yards

again, I think this conversation is basically apples to oranges
People have to stop with saying Lamar shouldn’t have won the MVP last season due to his stats , because his competition did not put up nowhere near the numbers he put up this year …. if that was the case - then y’all would have a point

We watched the games, I understand if Lamar cared about stats he could've easily ran it at the 1 yard for a TD instead of handing it off to Gus Edwards
+
Leaving the game during half way in the 3rd or beginning of the 4th quarters for at least 5 games
+
They're just learning the MVP is a regular season accolade
+
Maybe during the off-season we can teach them game script/game flow

I counted his rushing yards in his total yardage numbers for last year.

That 13-3 record was with the #1 defense. First team in NFL history to lead the league in points, sacks and takeaways. If you really the MVP QB with that defense and they hold Mahomes to 17 in the playoffs, should be able to get it done :manny:

I got nothing against Lamar, was rooting for Baltimore in the playoffs this year, but dude had a top two overall roster in the league the last two years and in 2019. All those years he lost to teams with inferior rosters in the postseason. You know the voters taking that into account too, fair or not.

Not really a shocker.

Lamar statistically had a better year, but I think a few factors went against him -
  • He's already won the award 2x (voter fatigue similar to Embiid / Jokic)
  • Ravens had 6 All Pros on their team vs 0 with the Bills (makes it seem like Josh did more with less)
  • His teammate Derrick Henry was also an MVP candidate
I think Lamar should have won but I'm not shocked at this. That dude who voted Lamar 4th needs to get his voting rights revoked though.
Thank you. This is one of the few sensible takes in this thread free of bias.

I'm not even saying Lamar was undeserving of it - he was. Just that Josh had a very reasonable case too.

And I agree that the voter who had Lamar 4th was dumb. Should be no lower than 3 if you want to give love to saquon

How is talking about the reality of the voters a hot take?

They change the criteria every year based on the narrative they want to drive. It's always been biased. It ain't scientific and it ain't consistent unless you want to say they give it to one of the #1 seed QBs most years now.

You can say it's a regular season award but that ain't how they act. Every player other than Lamar that got two plus MVP awards has won a Super Bowl. Three would give him more than Mahomes and as many as Brady. It's gonna be damn hard for him to get that without making a Super Bowl. And to be real, he probably got to win one. Especially when playing with loaded rosters. That's just facts. Fair or not.

Y'all never brought up teammates or All-Pros with
Kurt Warner/Marshall Faulk
Patrick Mahomes/Tyreke Hill
Brock Purdy/Christian McCaffery

What? That was the main argument for Lamar getting the MVP over Dak or one of them last year.
You have to excuse that poster. He tends to run with narratives that aren't entirely true and will call you and everyone else in this thread a cac as a defense mechanism. It's the only rebuttal he knows.

Yeah, I already been called a cac and a c00n for having the opinion Lamar ain't deserve the MVP last year. While saying about five separate times he should have won this year.
