In hindsight KD making deep Western Conference runs with Yung Sabo is incredible

I saw prime MVP russ treated crazy by rookie dmitch in the playoffs

Was still All NBA performer and finishin top 5 in MVP votin that season too. 29 years of age. nikkas swear he was the 10th man on the bench bout to retire. That Russ/PG era was supposed to be a contender and one of the top threats to dethrone the KD Warriors but they failed bad and got exposed.

Rookie DMitch shyttin on Russ, Tricky Ricky droppin trip dubs on his head :picard:

Then Dame ended his OKC chapter in one of the most one sided matchups I can remember between 2 elite players at the same position. Completely embarrassed Russ that series. OKC wasn't supposed to lose either of those series and got smacked up somethin fierce. It was the same type of teams KD was on after Harden trade except they managed to get a All NBA wing in PG to replace KD role and we seen the results.

People who hate on Westbrook are weirdos.

Can't think of a player who has the level of respect from actual players who gets disrespected by casuals to this level.

I can think of several players who didn't make it far in the playoffs often that are more respected casually.

Those guys didn’t get to play with every great player of his era but LeBron and Steph. That said, Russ hate is too much at this point.

This take was always revisionism.

Take it from a Grizzlies fan who's team was engaged in numerous playoff contests with the Thunder: Russ wasn't this obstacle to Durant.

That series that Durant was tagged as "Mr Unreliable" by the OKC paper.. it was an unfair tag no doubt, but that series showed a lot about Durant. Have an excellent defender (Tony Allen) denying him his spots, and he won't be able to shoot through it, or punish you with passing, or blow by the defender. His percentages tanked. They scraped through in 7 games but had Z-Bo been available, who knows...

Another series when Russ was out with injury, we beat them in 5 games enroute to the WCF finals. Durant wasn't horrible but again it shows the importance of Russ to that team.

The series against the Warriors where they choked a 3-1 lead, that wasn't solely on Russ. It was bad coaching by Brooks no question, but it was also diabolical shooting from Durant.
Your argument that KD struggled with no help around him isn’t the slam dunk you think it is.

I'm just saying that the narrative of Russ holding KD back on those teams was always bullshyt. Again, I watched multiple Thunder games. Including the ones against my Grizz in the playoffs.

Is KD a rubbish player? Of course not, one of the greatest to ever do it. I didn't make that post to pull him, other than the fact that the Thunder team not going all the way was a collective failing, not all on Russ, who had his faults (like any other player) but was just a force of nature at his best.

Those guys didn’t get to play with every great player of his era but LeBron and Steph. That said, Russ hate is too much at this point.

Correlation does not equal causation.

Russ was past his prime when he left the Thunder. At that point he had played with KD and PG. With KD he should have won a chip (they would have eventually if KD stayed). PG isn't that guy. Russ isn't a number 1 either, he's never been.

I would have loved to see what a healthy Nuggets team would have done in game 7.

The Russ hate has always been corny. Again I can't think of another player with shortcomings who's gotten this amount of hate. AI didn't, and God knows he had his flaws. TMac. Vince Carter. I could go on and on.

A toxic combination of KD, LeBron and now Jokic stans who assign blame to Russ for their favorites' post season shortcomings :mjlol:
Funnily enough, the posters who’ve been most critical of Russ this postseason aren’t even “Jokic stans”. Go figure.
