Most are lazy bums who think they have a right to other people's money and would rather try to drain money from members of society who are actually productive, instead of actually working hard and pulling themselves up by their bootstraps like normal people.![]()
Its is...best country in the world![]()
Its is...
I agree, the cost of living is far too high... but since a look at cost is off the table around here, lets discuss a negative income tax
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_income_tax
If you support welfare, you should support this without question, as it comes with the added benefit of ending the pesky issue of min wage.![]()
sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken
The cost is already on taxpayers...That sounds like a horrible idea.
Not only would it provide a disincentive for people on the low income side to work, but it'd also be an incentive for businesses to pay workers as little as possible (at least for any jobs that would pay below the minimum income anyway) since the govt will make up the difference and people won't care. Plus that would shift costs of the minimum income to the public (ie. taxpayers).
Its sad what this country is becoming
If you have a child, with medical issues, you'' automatically be working two jobs. Finding an entry level job that pays more than minimum wage is very difficult, being able to apply and interview for a job while you have 2 other jobs and a child is even harder, being able to do all of that, and get hired for that job is nearly impossible. Trying to go to some community college classes so you can get an Associates an increase your prospects is also pretty difficult, especially if you have a child. Once again, there are 24 hours in the day and to work to pay for school, take adequate care of your child, and go to class + studying... Well you get the picture, nearly impossible. Add things like family/friend tragedies, mental issues (including depression), abuse, distance, transportation, and you can see that some people's boots don't have straps. Also think about people who may have committed felonies when they were 18 (young and stupid, right?), now once they get out, the job market is even WORSE.unless you are mentally or physically challenged.
There is no reason to be working at a minimum wage job for life.
The cost is already on taxpayers...
Moreover, unemployment would drop as employers would be able to pay less, and employ more...
more people would be participating in the workforce building much needed human capital, and it wouldnt need to be debated every 5-10yrs they way min wage does.
What exactly is horrible about it(in comparison)?
It usually takes 2 parents to raise a kid where is the other parent in all of this?If you have a child, with medical issues, you'' automatically be working two jobs. Also think about the fact that there simply aren't enough non-minimum wage jobs to satisfy a job market for the over-qualified, there are people who will be stuck in minimum wage for life just based on statistics.
