I go to a $50,000+ year university( a school I don't even want to be at) with a major I don't even want to work in. I woke up today and asked myself, wtf am I doing in my life? I seriously don't even want a job(:dame:)My plan is to start my own business and I have been researching it for the past year, but I still don't know where to begin. I've been told the best way is to just start.

I'm just stuck man, I feel like I'm trapped in a fukking box. Just constantly waking up early learning shyt idgaf about and never going to use. Seriously how do people do this? I feel like a slave and I'm only 19. I don't want to live my life doing something I don't want to do. I don't want To wake up and the highlight of my day is laying in my bed. It's weird because I know I'm just wasting my time, but I keep believing it's going to get better, and at times it does and I think this isn't so bad. Maybe I'm just burnt out or maybe I'm finally realizing that college isn't for everyone and a 9-5 career isn't for everyone.

I just need some advice, on anything really. Whether it involves your own personal experiences, or business advice just anything is helpful at this point.

If theres a will theres a way. I get what you're saying though.

Just keeping it 100 with you. I have a small business, I love it but none of it's easy, and unfortunately a lot of things come with age. I know that's not what you want to hear...

Do you know what kind of business that would you be interested in? You should research costs and everything associated with it and then make business plans.

Are you a sophomore or junior now? Start putting money aside, paying down debt, and getting your credit score as high as possible.

Learn about accounting and taxes as well can't really stress that enough. Also get managerial experience in whatever field. Having a degree isn't an awful thing to have either it can help you fund your business. The money has to come from somewhere.

Wow man, this is exactly the type of advice i was looking for. currently a sophomore and recently got a credit card 5 months ago and been using that to buy gum, candy, etc to generate a little credit. What kind of business do you run? if you dont mind me asking. and how did you get it started? I also do plan on graduating and getting my degree, Im in too deep and put in too much effort lol, would be a waste to stop now. I want to do something in computer programming, Software and hardware development and media design. first step, is changing my major and minoring in business. My major right now is Psych :mjlol:.. dont ask me why.

School isn't ivy league, although its a private school and my highschool teachers told me that getting a degree there holds alot of weight.

Cut your losses and get the FCUK OUT :damn:

I was in a similar position and chose not to quit, and it set me back for MANY years...It made me very bitter and nihilistic...

If you are only 19, GET THE FCUK OUT OF THAT SCHOOL...Take time to reflect...

You say you want to start your own business...This is what you need to think of doing...

1) GET THE FCUK OUT OF THAT SCHOOL...STOP THE BLEEDING...

2) What field are you interested in? computers, cars, food, and etc

3) Go to a trade school and learn a trade that will get you EMPLOYED in a company that you are interested in...

4) When you get your foot inside, find a MENTOR and learn the business from the inside...Absorb as much knowledge as you can...How they secure contracts/customers, shipping and receiving, marketing, accounting and etc...

Network with other like minded in the company...

5) If after 2 years, you are still interested...Get your degree and start combining the knowledge you get from school and your real life experience and put it in practice...

GET OUT NOW!!!!

It's so early in your tenure (on average you neeed 120-130 creds to graduate
most of your creds are probably in lib. arts. reqs.

switch your major, either there or at a cheaper uni. and study CS, you can continue working on your software on your free time
in addition, if you feel your software is groundbreaking then crowd funding may be the way to go

Be prepared to lose credits. I ended up sticking to my school because I would lose too much time by transferring and basically have to start all over again and end up spending the same amount of money.

Through perseverance, support from family and a little luck, I managed to get through it. I felt similar to you although I did feel inspired by some of my professors and classes so I wasn't completely off the deep end. Just disgruntled with the overall experience not matching up to my expectations. But such is life. :ld:
