Actually canibus never realistically recovered in the sonic landscape change that occurred right as he was about to be released and then the subsequent sonic landscape change exposed him for not being the technical marvel he was.
As he lost his ability to have any vocal tonality and aggression.
he lifted from ll's skill set and he was exposed because he never recovered and also he became wack content and direction wise.
Plus culturally after wyclef.
Canibus lost any ability culturally to say anything to anyone as a diss.
As he had sold out past the point of no return on his debut.
Just as bad as anyone he could critique or try to diss.
Plus, he got worse skill wise and never adjusted.
Including the horrific c Hollywood stories and his disses of beanie Siegel.
Which at the time since he sold out.
He had no credence culturally to diss beanie and made himself look off brand to the point of no return.
Then after that how he moved fully exposed him culturally and culturally if you sellout.
You need to be good at what you tried to sellout doing..of which canibus was not and that was trying to make a commercial attempt.
As you can not critique emcees culturally.
or even be successful battling if culturally you are not in order.
Canibus was so out of order culturally.
That it combined with his disconnect to the listener and further put us where we are now.
As far as critiquing canibus and the point of no return for his wackness.

It's easy to shyt on Bis now because he's become such an internet punchline, especially after the battle with Dizaster. But when he was in his prime, from 1997 up until 2005, maybe 07-08 at the latest, Canibus was one of the best lyricists in Hip-Hop.
You don't know what the fukk youre talking about.the late 90s early 2000's Bis' capitalized off the nerdy/underground message board hype that was prevalent during those days. the using big words that dont make sense makes you a dope lyricist type shyt.. remember the Del's, the Eyedea's, the MC Nuclear etc.
People were so bent on going anti-commercial, since the Nelly's, Ja Rule's, Luda's etc were dominating that they went to the 'Alt-Left' of hip hop. Every message board was filled with cac's debating which nerdy rapper used more multi-syllable scientific words.
1996-1997 Canibus was kinda dope, but he morphed into a nerdy, try-hard nikka after that.
