And as far as the impact of celebs speaking up, take Killer Mike for example. He's pretty much single-handededly inspiring thousands of blacks across the country to transfer their funds into black-owned banks:

Killer Mike is just 1 C-list level rapper. Imagine if more of the even more popular rappers promoted and glorified things that actually BENEFITTED the black community

That's presuming Dan Gilbert would in turn place economic pressure on the leadership of the city to make that happen. That's a big reach. I believe Gilbert is going to sell the team to Lebron when Lebron retires. At that point, he'd be able to call more shots than he can today

The NFL and MLB can only grow so much, meanwhile the NBA is growing with each year. Why would Dan sell a team that has room to grow for a team in a league that's likely reached its apex?

How is NBA growing in ways the other two arent? All are getting over on the television contracts. Its not like NBA can subsidize a league or sell ppv games in China like that, and the bottom will probably fall out there in the next few years. Dan's passion as well as his main business is located in Detroit. He tried to buy the Pistons before the Cavs and hes bringing a MLS team to Detroit so corporate synergy
