theyre not unknowns.

WWE casuals generally dont watch NXT like that. most NXT viewers know of them, and the WWE knows that, which is why they subliminally hyped them up as a big surprise.

then when they get out there, they start talking that "unknown" chit.
then they turn around and put that "we're finally here" type video out, where more effort was put into subliminally downplaying the indies(and "indies") rather than time spent on actually putting the rascalz over. ember moon put them over, but also hit all the WWE talking points like "they dont have to take indie scraps anymore" or whatever.

Like I said though, it ain't about putting them over to people who already know who they are. The announcers are there to try & get them over as big deals to the people who haven't seen them & know nothing about them. NXT/AEW are both the weird middle ground of trying to appeal to both (AEW less so since they pretend everyone should just know whoever shows up) in the current wrestling world.

It is a bit schizophrenic in the sense that they want you to be excited the debut because you know who they are and how good they can be but then the new names is some :/

Seems like they go back and forth on this, but with guys now having a viable place to go, I bet we never see dudes get to use their previous names anymore unless they're direct to the main roster types.

Weird to me they signed with WWE instead of AEW for multiple reasons

1. WWE doesn't give a fukk about tag teams, and with 205, these dudes are going to get relegated there within a couple of months were they to be split up

2. AEW's tag team booking isn't really much better than WWE's, but their presentation of tag teams is so much better even for low card teams

3. The Excalibur/PWG pipeline

I think they passed on AEW because their tag team scene might be a little crowded at the moment.

Interesting that two of them signed without the third.
