New Yorkers are the only people that can’t comprehend that.

No friend YOU don’t get it

The more Southern nikkax trip over themselves to make it known the people they knew didn’t play Jay the bigger of a figure he ends up being. It’s like when a broad tells everybody they know they turned down an athlete because secretly they think it makes them special…Are you special?

No, I rock with Jay music but I’m objective enough and have seen the reactions in real time. Most people were not rocking with Jay z like that. What he saying is correct.

Of course dumbass it was the South lolol dumbass nikka. Out of all of them Tip was actually bigger than Jay outside of South at one point. 2006 - 2007 Tip had Jay beat. Everybody else shouldn't be mentioned alongside that nikka.

Yea I didn’t get into Jay (outside of the singles) until high school.

Southern culture was strong af back then.

I think before 2001 hip hop was still extremely regional. There were a few outliers like Pac, Big, Bone, and Snoop. You can probably throw Kast in there too.

I've always listened to Hov since 97. But it wasn't until Dynasty when he was my guy.

this is very disheartening to always see Atlanta media or figureheads run with this narrative that it’s ALL of the South… when Scarface just got an presented an award alongside Rakim by Nas..

Even within Atlanta.. there is enough artists to be proud of for their contribution to Hip-Hop without comparing or disbarring other regions

Sad. Thoughts and Prayers all around

Yes, when I was living in Florida in the 00s all my friends in high school and middle school mostly listened to Gucci, Jeezy, Wayne, Boosie, no one listened to Jay-Z.

What I want to know though is why these South dudes keep bringing up this topic every few months and why is it always Jay-Z? :jbhmm:

According to nikkas the following groups did not listen to Jay Z

1.)Women
2.)The south
3.)The west coast
4.)The midwest
5.))White people(until Beyonce and him because official in 2003).
6.)Young people

It was basically just the Marcy housing projects
It still sold millions of records how did that happen?

Jay is a polarizing figure, so it always gets likes and engagement. Social media is basically the same talking points being regurgitated every few months, because people take the bait every time. I guarantee you this topic will pop up again in early 2024.
