Florida now has a giant hole at the quarterback position after news broke Saturday afternoon that
Will Grier was transferring from the program.
Currently, the Gators have two quarterbacks returning next season. Sophomore
Treon Harris, who took over for Grier after he was suspended for a calendar year for taking performance-enhancing drugs, and Oregon State transfer
Luke Del Rio, who had to sit out the 2015 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
The Gators will also have 4-star quarterback
Feleipe Franks and 2-star quarterback
Kyle Trask on campus in January, as both prospects are early enrollees.
Now the question becomes: Will Florida go after any other quarterbacks in this year’s recruiting class? We already know that the Gators made a
late, strong push to flip UGA quarterback commit Jacob Eason, but he ultimately
decided to stick with the Bulldogs.
What about Maryland quarterback commit
Dwayne Haskins? The 4-star quarterback took an official visit to Florida in November and is very popular with current Gators commits.
Shortly after it was known that Grier would not be returning to Florida, current Gators commits tweeted at Haskins.

SEC Country reached out to Haskins to get his thoughts on the tweets he received.
“It shows they want me to be the leader,” Haskins said. “I can tell those guys really like me.”
Haskins did not answer whether or not Grier’s departure helps Florida’s case on flipping him.
Haskins is rated as the nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback.
