I have no idea what's going to happen anymore. One day it seems like the entire Republican party has no backbone and will allow Trump to do whatever he wants and the next day, Indiana of all places, has senate republicans in that state who stand up against gerrymandering (even after Trump threatens them for the whole world to see).

Those elections two weeks ago put the whole party on notice. Trump said it himself, the shut down and Trump not being on the ballot is why they lost. Well Trump isn’t going to be on the ballot anymore, and the democrats are probably going to only ever agree to a few months of open government at a time.

Basically none of their jobs are safe in 2026 and 2028 and all of them need to tread lightly

And the pendulum continues its swing in the other direction. White people are choosing coexistence and survival after realizing annihilating their enemies comes with the heavy cost of guaranteeing their own demise.

It's WAY too early to be declaring that :skip: I'm sure people were saying this a couple years ago and then Trump got reelected

All the GOP has to do is come up with an effective enough dogwhistle to rile them up again

Bro… they turned their SNAP and EBT off, fukked up their farming money, kicked them out of all kinds of jobs and their healthcare is about to go up quadruple.

They thought they could deal with it, but they can’t. MAGA even voted to release the Epstein files yesterday.

:mjlol:

They ain’t bout that life for real.

Basically they are already fukked and the ship has officially begun to sink as of two weeks ago.

It's not gonna be that simple. It's not just a bunch of dog whistles hanging in a closet and they truly went to the extreme this time. They also need a Trump type figure.

NEW: Indiana Senate Pro Tem Rod Bray says Republicans don’t have votes for redistricting.

The Senate will not reconvene in December.

Just shows they know the truth, that this month's elections weren't just blue states and blue cities voting. What makes a district blue or red is the margins, and if you take a R+8 district and turn it into R+3, you lose the risk of losing the district entirely in a wave.

Washington Post editorial is incorrect on my position on mid decade redistricting. Incorrect for the Editorial Board to label me as a “vocal opponent.” I have not seen a proposed map or proposed legislation. I continue to listen to the residents of IN Senate District 38.

Continue to listen to your constituents. All the rest is noise.

As a former GOP voter, and hopefully GOP voter again someday, the resolve you and your colleagues are showing is encouraging. I do hope the party turns away from the bigotry, conspiracy and chaos and gets back to its principles. I’m rooting for you.

Your constituents oppose mid decade redistricting. Many polls have shown this.

Redistrict please!!

He’s right. You are a RINO and a Liar. I called yesterday and you had your people telling callers you were undecided. All the while behind closed doors you were a yeah for no redistricting. And now we have you on record. You snake!

@southernwayjim1
Not only are you lying, you’re blocking anyone who calls you out on it! @

It really is this, they are not sure they win more seats, let along hold onto the seats they have if a blue wave happens. If they gerrymander the risk of them losing more seats will only grow.

Trump's scheme to rig 2026 is suddenly faltering:

*Court strikes down Texas GOP gerrymander
*Indiana GOP lacks votes to redraw map
*Big Dem win in Virginia could give Ds more seats

On the pod, DLCC head Heather Williams is informative on what's next:
Trump’s Plot to Rig 2026 Is Falling Apart, and Boy Is He Mad About It

@GregTSargent
There's a plausible scenario in which Trump's igging backfires. If Dems do redraw Virginia, added seats on both sides might be close to a wash. And GOP gerrymanders could make other GOP seats vulnerable if Dems win big in 2026.

We discuss this here:

The appeals court or Scotus has more than enough time to overturn the court ruling before the deadline. And we know this will go to the Supreme Court.

That’s how things work now. The administration does whatever it wants then waits to get sued and lose all the way to SCOTUS

Any Republicans tired of winning yet?

It all plays like this in 2026 and Trump declares results illegal and more chaos ensues.

Looks like Trump’s attempt to help MAGA seize control of Congress by gerrymandering backfired

Bigly

Not only did the Texas court reject the maps

Indiana refused to redistrict
So did Kansas

Meanwhile, California and Virginia move closer to drawing maps that favor Democrats

[Quoted tweet]
Donald Trump and Greg Abbott played with fire, got burned -- and democracy won.

This ruling is a win for Texas, and for every American who fights for free and fair elections.
