I've been living in my apartment 4+ year's my rent is 525 ( no complaints from me). The same unit just opened up next door the rent is 725 a month.

The exact same apartment. The exact same Sq feet.

That's fukking insane.

I don't understand how rent is determined but I do know it BS. As you described, you could have people paying a good difference on apartments in the same complex with the same floor plans. I can understand updated appliances bumping up rent but that isn't always the case.

The door to the unit is unlocked so I've been going over there to see if the fridge, microwave, or stove was new.

I lived in an apartment by a university that rents by the room . But I didn’t have a roommate the whole time staying there

My 2bedroom is 1300, but I moved in back in 2020. On the website right now the same 2bed rooms are going for 1600 bruh luckily they only raised my rent by 30 dollars when I renewed a few months ago
