I went to a 60% White/40% Black high school and we didn't have parent/teacher conference at the high school level.

My high school was ranked in the nation academically back then.

Last presidency Bush passed NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. It was a sweeping and clear overhaul of the entire education system. Look it up if you don't remember it. It's a big fukking deal. Obama could do something literally 1/10th of that size in scope and I'd be happy with a grin on my face. Instead he doesn't even try. Why could Bush make power moves like that and Obama cant?

Dude, NCLB has been a DISASTER for public education.

Obama created "Race to the top" ...but I don't see how that helps kids in this case.

If you don't remember, NCLB was a major cause for contention with teachers and led to forcing Obama to come up with another policy to replace it.

And RTTT is not much better.

you are right though my dude people can talk about socioeconomic conditions being one of the reasons for setbacks. When do the parents get held accountable? In some countries in Africa, some kids wish they had big brick building for a school. In America we think we are owed more, instead of taking advantage of what we have. While striving for greater. Socioeconomics don't have shyt to do with 1 parent out of 70 coming to a parent teacher conference. We have let our kids down, people need to realize this.
