No I don't think they should be paid, but they should have ownership of whatever they can create with that status.

Reasons being:

1) the arguement of how much each sport or player should be paid... whether ur pie if u play or not. And if the pay is enough.
2) maybe you should be paid if you aren't on a full ride. But a full ride is enough imo. Leaving a top college with no debt real debt and degree.
3) most athletes in some sports are treated like kings... I have a few buddies who went to the NFL, and they all were giving a lot of stuff already for free. Free housing, free meals, free books, all they really paid for was for fun.

All of D1 football and basketball players are there for sports not school. Most of them would not even get their application looked at cos they aren't college ready. Their practice schedule makes it nearly impossible to devote serious time to studying. The argument that their education is enough payment is bogus. Even schools know this and they shuffle their athletes into pointless easy classes to keep them eligible...read up on the UNC scandal.

They are an injury away from losing it all. It's ridiculous that they income generator in a multibillion dollar industry do not get paid. The average D1 football coach makes about $2.5 million a year, if it is really about amateurism why are coaches making millions?

If you work on campus even in the cafeteria you get paid.
I suspect this is a knee jerk cac reaction to the knee protests
