Intelligent people realize this Joker movie ISN'T a comic book movie at all.

It's not even a Joker movie.

It takes elements from comic book characters, but it doesn't follow the comic books at all. Not to mention, the writers and directors even said it.

So while it will probably get critical acclaim, simple minded people with try to lump it in with Shazaam, Spiderman, Deadpool or Avengers :snoop:

The genre is so strong that they will make normal movies and shows, but throw in comicbook elements to sell tickets.

"This movie isn't a comic book movie but has comic book elements in it"

:dwillhuh:

Think of these Cloverfield spinoffs that weren't really Cloverfield sequels or prequels. They were screenplays that got tweaked at the last minute and called Cloverfield.

This doesn't even feel like a Joker movie. From the trailers, it simply looks like a crazy white boy that snapped. Then the writers were like "lets have him be a clown/stand up comic" "and when he snaps he can be an evil clown man" :patrice:.

:jbhmm:"Like the Joker?"

"why don't we just call him the Joker and make it a Joker origin movie":gladbron:

:mjpls:

Ledgers Joke is GOAT because you didn't have an origin. You didn't need one.

I remember people saying the same shyt about The Dark Knight.

It's the Joker, in Gotham, featuring the Waynes somehow - it's a comic book movie.

Nah. I never heard that.

It had more realism, but the Batman character wasn't compromised. Not to mention, the origins were the same as the comic book. (Batman Begins). It had a comic book foundation.

Don't remember them saying this about The Dark Knight but yeah it seems this has enough elements to be considered a comic book movie.
But they told a completely original story about the Joker and by the word of mouth they pulled it off. Hard trick to pull.
The trailers do remind me more of The King of Comedy more than any comic I read so it does have some derivative elements.
