Well of course slavery itself wasn't banned until 1865 but the importation of slaves was in 1808. The percentage of slaves in this country remained pretty steady over the next few decades despite the country actually getting bigger and the white population increasing due to immigration

I think it might've had to do with the shift from slavery, to emancipation, then sharing cropping.

Nah I meant the population remained steady from 1808 to 1865. Those Indian Reservations didn't come from nowhere. That was our land originally but with westward expansion and the Fugitive Slave Act they were able to take people from that land and legally enslave them since they didn't have freedom papers

I would say look at numbers you hear about black people and see if they make sense if our numbers were at the 40's.

For example, we always hear about the trillion we spend a year.

If our population was 45 million, lets look at the numbers using estimates.

Lets say 30 million are working age. That 2 adults to 1 child.

Lets take another 4.5 millions out due to unemployment (15% rate, which it is usually higher). Leaves us with 25.5 million working.

1 trillion dollars/ 25.5 million= $39,200 per person

The average salary in 2012 for a household (not per person) was only $33,300. Where does the extra 6,000 (single household) or $45,000 (married household) come from so that we are spending close to a trillion

Either A.) We don't have a trillion dollar spending power and are being made to look like fools with our money or B.) Our numbers are actually a lot higher than we are being told.

The thing is with the Fugitive Slave Act at the time had doctors legally buying slaves to experiment on and breeding them as well.

When i first moved to the U.S. i would have thougth it was closer to 50% too since i lived in Miami and would travel to NY and both places had a lot of blacks (granted in Miami a lot of them are caribbean blacks) . Then i joined the Army and realized it's not so close but still thougth it was higher than what it turned out to be. Eventually while traveling to places like small towns and cities in OH and KY, TX, AZ and also TN i realized blacks were almost rare.
Mind you i moved here after growing up in a country that is over 95% black so you can imagine how being a minority made me feel.

The fools who think blacks are over 50% are the ones who never been outside of their city and when they do they go to places like DC, ATL, AL and NY and swear thats the norm everywhere.
I also used to not believe there were more latinos here than blacks too...until i went out West. Then i had take it all back
When you think about the significant number of foreign blacks that have migrated here and contributed to the population of blacks you realize the number of "black" americans could have been lower than we think it even is now.
