I don't know why a Jordan v. Kobe debate even exists. What's there to debate? Jordan >

You say the OP is based on facts. Actually, it's based on something hypothetical. Even if Kobe did play in Jordan's era and did average 40 points, I'll just "hypothetically" argue that Jordan would have shut Kobe down as he did to all other competition.

JORDAN WAS THE ONE GETTIN SHUT DOWN IN THE 80S

JORDAN WAS THE ONE GETTIN SHUT DOWN IN THE 80S

The Bulls as a team got shut down by some of the greatest teams in history (Bad Boy Pistons, Larry Bird Celtics), but we all know how that ended. Jordan dominated in the 80s, breh.:mjlol:

Jordan was so dominant, they came up with the "Jordan Rules" to try to stop him.

No you cannot unless you're a dimwit

THE ONLY REASON ONE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO BRING THEMSELVES TO IS DUE TO YEARS OF BRAINWASH. JORDAN BEIN MARKETED AS A GOD-LIKE FIGURE, GIVEN THE ULTIMATE PUSH BY THE NBA, ESPN, NIKE, GATORADE, WHEATIES, ETC..ELEVATED TO UNTOUCHABLE STATUS.....WHEN IN REALITY, HE IS JUST ONE OF THE GOATS, ONLY UNLIKE THE OTHERS (KAREEM, MAGIC, ROBERTSON, KOBE, ETC), HE WAS SHOVED DOWN THE GENERAL PUBLICS THROATS A WHOLE LOT MORE. HE'S NOT THE UNDISPUTED NUMBER 1 LIKE THE CORPORATE WORLD MADE THE DUMBFUCCS BELIEVE. DAVID STERN HAD AN AGENDA AND THE CASUAL BASKETBALL FAN BEEN EATIN OFF THE MENU HE CREATED FOR YEARS NOW.

KOBE WAS NEXT IN LINE TO GET THE CORPORATE PUSH, BUT THE RAPE TRIAL AUTOMATICALLY VOIDED KOBE FROM BEIN ABLE TO EAT THE WAY JORDAN DID, AND THAT WAS A WRAP...THE NBA SKIPPED RIGHT OVER KOBE AND MOVED ON TO LEBRON. ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT LEBRON WASNT NEARLY AS GOOD, NO MATTER HOW HARD THE NBA WANTED HIM TO BE.

WHOEVER THE HAND-PICKED GOLDEN CHILD IS...THATS WHO WILL BE VIEWED AS THE GREATEST DURIN THAT TIME PERIOD BY THE CASUAL BASKETBALL FAN. NBA DECIDES, NOT YOU. OPEN YA EYES.

True, but this thread is about points and how that strengthens the Kobe argument. If Kobe was in the East, he would have had less points and more wear on his body. 19 seasons in the East? probably not

IF KOBE PLAYED IN THE EAST, HE MAY HAVE 7-8 TITLES BY NOW

You had a better chance of arguing that Lebron is a better "basketball player" than MJ. Basketball is more than just offense and your whole "without a doubt more skilled" is way off. If Kobe was better, or even arguably better, he would have more than one league MVP, at least one defensive player of the year award, and would have a higher career field goal percentage.

If Kobe had more "skill" why is his career FG% lower?

LEBRON IS NOWHERE NEAR THE DISCUSSION...DOESNT HAVE THE FUNDAMENTALS; FOOTWORK, POST-GAME, HANDLES, STROKE. LEBRON IS MAINLY A PHYSICAL FORCE. KOBE COULD DO EVERYTHING JORDAN DID AND THEN SOME. MVP VOTING IS A POPULARITY CONTEST, THAT ARGUMENT SUGGESTS THAT STEVE NASH IS > KOBE, WHICH IS A JOKE, TO SAY THE LEAST. KOBE HAS MORE 1ST TEAM ALL-NBA DEFENSES THAN MJ, U CAN SAY JORDAN'S DEFENSE WAS BETTER, BUT NOT BY MUCH. MJ=SLIGHTLY BETTER D, KOBE=SLIGHTLY BETTER O........FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE WAS ALREADY DISCLOSED, IF U READ EARLIER IN THE THREAD. KOBE HAS A LOWER PERCENTAGE BECAUSE HE HAS MORE RANGE...JORDAN COULDN'T SHOOT THREES, SO HE NATURALLY HAS A HIGHER PERCENTAGE. THATS NOT A PLUS FOR JORDAN, JUST LIKE SHAQ HAVING A HIGHER FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE THAN JORDAN ISN'T A PLUS FOR SHAQ.

I agree with you on David Stern's agenda with Lebron. MJ created his own aura on his own, though. I grew up in Chicago and watched every game MJ played. David Stern wanted to try to duplicate the revenue that MJ brought to the league, but no one has matched up as of yet.

JORDAN WAS SO DOMINANT IN THE 80S THAT HE NEVER WON A RING.....HE WAS GREAT, BUT NOT YET DOMINANT. DOMINATING MEANS U WIN.

DO U KNOW THAT DAVID STERN SPECIFICALLY TOLD THE REFS TO CALL FOULS ON ANY CONTACT MADE AGAINST JORDAN? MAGIC EVEN JOKED ABOUT IT OVER AT THE DREAM TEAM PHOTO-SHOOT THEY DID. THE LEAGUE LITERALLY MADE HIM UNTOUCHABLE MAYN...I KNOW U KNOW THIS GROWIN UP IN CHICAGO N ALL. NO NEED TO DENY THE OBVIOUS.

SURE, HE WAS AMAZING AND A LEGEND....BUT SO WAS KAREEM, SO WAS MAGIC, SO WAS KOBE. WITH THE SAME MARKETING/CORPORATE LOVE JORDAN GOT, WE WOULD BE CALLING THEM THE GOAT RIGHT NOW. BASKETBALL PURISTS KNOW WHATSUP.

BECAUSE THE EAST IS LIKE JV, WHILE THE WEST IS VARSITY.....KOBE WOULDA FEASTED ON THE EAST.
The east and west was much more competitive with each other during Kobe's prime. Now it's hella lopsided, but the east has always been more half court basketball. Kobe would have seen more defense and would have had less impact on games because he had less opportunities to shoot.

NAAH EAST WAS ALWAYS GARBO THROUGH KOBE'S PRIME...DATING BACK TO WHEN THE SIXERS AND NETS WAS MAKIN FINALS. KOBE IS THE TYPA PLAYER WHO DICTATES TEMPO, HE DOESNT TAKE WHAT HE'S GIVEN. SO ANY GAME AGAINST A KOBE TEAM WOULDA BEEN BASED AROUND HOW HE PLAYED, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. IN THE WEST, U PLAYIN A PLAYOFF TEAM EVERY NIGHT....LIKE I SAID, KOBE WOULDA FEASTED ON THE EAST.

Nah, Jordan is the GOAT because of everything you mentioned plus the fact that he has zero L's in the finals. You mentioned he didn't have any rings in the 80s. Yeah, that's what drove him to become the GOAT. He was still the league's best player in his first few years going up against all-time legends. Was Kobe MVP status in his first 7 or 8 years in the league? (I'll give you the fact that he skipped college). He didn't win a title as the top player on his team until his 12th or 13th season. Everybody you mentioned as all time greats has L's in the finals.:yeshrug:

HAVING NO L'S IN THE FINALS IS NOT THE BEST WAY TO MEASURE GREATNESS....THAT MEANS THAT 9 OUTTA THE 15 OF YEARS THAT MJ WAS IN THE LEAGUE, HE WASNT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE FINALS. NOT TO MENTION, ONCE HE HIT HIS PRIME, HE HAD PIPPEN BY HIS SIDE THE ENTIRE TIME, WHICH MANY CONSIDERED THE SECOND BEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER IN THE NBA. SO LIKE I SAID BEFORE, IT'S ALL CIRCUMSTANTIAL.
