:mjlol: @ the bolded.

Again, against his contemporaries, Jordan scored more points, grabbed more rebounds, got more assists, more blocks and more steals, turned it over less and scored more efficiently at any point in his career compared to Kobe.

Next you're going to blame fg% on Jordan's competition....so tell me why players like Wade and LeBron can hit the 50% mark while having a high scoring average...but Kobe can't?? They played against the same defenders...I'll wait....

SO BASED ON WHAT UR SAYING, U REALLY THINK WADE AND LEBRON ARE SUPERIOR SCORERS TO KOBE:mjlol:

NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton. AKA the Glove. Was NBA all defensive first team 9 times.

Payton was the NBA Defensive Player of the year in 1995-1996, which is the same year that Seattle lost to Jordan led Chicago in the NBA Finals.

Couldn't stop Jordan though. Hopefully one day Gary Payton will be considered as good as Tayshaun Prince.

PLEASE READ THE STATS THE OTHER DUDE POSTED, DUMBFUCC....THEY ONLY PUT PAYTON ON JORDAN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN GAME 4. WHEN THEY DID THAT, JORDANS SCORING DIPPED TO 23 PPG ON 36% SHOOTING AND THE BULLS LOST 2 OF 3....JUST LIKE U. U LOST THIS DEBATE. NIGHT NIGHT.

You wrote "Finals." There are Eastern Conference Finals and Western Conference Finals and there are NBA Finals. You didn't specify. However, only a complete Kobe ball licker would even try to make the case that Tayshaun Prince is some kind of elite defender in comparison to Gary Payton and Rodman. You need to stop smoking weed, because it is affecting your capacity to think clearly.

And in 30 years, people will be making the same ignorant statements about the defenses Kobe had to contend with - sports evolve. You can only judge based on what an athlete did against his contemporaries and Jordan DOMINATED his contemporaries more than Kobe did. Plain and simple.

Uhh no there was a dynamic difference in jordans's era of defense and kobe's era of defense.

This is well documented.

I like how you keep ignoring all my responses tho.

Only a retard would make up an argument to refute it with some stats from 2001

:camby:

I simply said he was a sidekick breh just get over it. He didn't put up "sidekick numbers" when it came to scoring so he's definitely the GOAT sidekick by those standards

:troll:

HOW CAN U BE A SIDEKICK WIT A HIGHER SCORING AVERAGE IN THE PLAYOFFS?

THEY WERE A 1-2 PUNCH, AND SHAQ HAD SENIORITY CUZ HE WAS OLDER....BUT ANY1 WHO WATCHED DURIN THAT PERIOD WILL TELL U THAT THEY TOOK TURNS LEADING. KOBE OWNED THE PLAYOFFS AND SHAQ OWNED THE FINALS. SIMPLE AS THAT.

Hey Dummy,

Payton guarded Jordan in every game of that series. In the earlier games Payton mainly guarded Jordan at the end of games or he doubled down on him in the post when none of the other players could handle him. He got the main job of guarding Jordan later in the series; but he had been guard him from time to time already. The Bull already had the series in hand anyway, because Seattle just couldn't match the Bulls.

Btw, numb nuts I am from Chicago and I have seen Jordan play since he was in College. You are really dumb.

NICE EDIT, BUT PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT MY NUTS....MAYBE U MISSED THIS? vvv

"GP did not consistently guard Jordan in games 1-3, George Karl had been worried about a leg injury Payton had over the course of that week/10 days. When they were down in the series 0-3 he switched Payton over to Jordan and Seattle won 2 straight (before losing in G6).

Jordan games 1-3: 31 PPG, 46% FG, 2.3 TOPG

Jordan games 4-6: 23.6 PPG, 36.7% FG%, 3.6 TOPG

Also, for when my facts and statistics are inevitably going to be bullshyt, here's Payton on that series (notice how he says he GUARDS JORDAN after Game 3):"

SO U PRETTY MUCH PROVED MY POINT....WHEN SEATTLE PUT A GOOD DEFENDER ON JORDAN (FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS FINALS EXISTANCE), JORDAN PLAYED TERRIBLY AND THE SONICS WENT 2/3.....THANK U.

But wait, wasn't your original argument in regards to Tayshaun Prince being the best defender Kobe had ever faced in the finals, and Tayshaun was a better defender than anyone Jordan faced in the finals? Your point wasn't "when Jordan faced a great defender, he played terribly," it was this:

TAYSHAUN PRINCE IS A BETTER DEFENDER THAN ANY DEFENDER JORDAN FACED IN THE FINALS...EVER. FALL BACK.

If you're admitting that Jordan played terribly against Payton when matched up one-one-one (you've said repeatedly that Payton did not in fact guard Jordan much at all during the series, so you're losing ground there too), then surely he could be considered better than Prince in '04?

Your dumb ass statement was that Jordan had never faced a defender like Tayshaun Prince in the Finals. I pointed out Rodman and another poster pointed out Payton. I then gave the specifics on Payton (he was the defensive player of the year), here is the post http://www.thecoli.com/posts/14759384/

Common sense should tell you that Payton guarded Jordan through out that series; even if not always primarily. Hell Kevin Johnson of the Suns used to guard Jordan at end of games situations.

You are just completely clueless. I felt sorry for you at first, because I can tell that you are a specials needs person. Now I don't feel sorry for you, because you have shown yourself to just be plain old stupid.

PAYTON WAS A SECONDARY DEFENDER ON JORDAN...PRIMARY DEFENDER WAS HERSEY HAWKINS, AND WHEN PAYTON FINALLY GUARDED JORDAN, HE PLAYED BAD AND BULLS LOST 2 OF 3....SO THAT ONLY FURTHER PROVES MY POINT BRUH.

SO UR GETTIN OWNED IN A DEBATE BY A SPECIAL NEEDS PERSON? WHAT THAT SAY BOUT U FUCCBOY??

AGAIN, RODMAN IS NOT IN THE DISCUSSION BECAUSE I WAS TALKIN ABOUT FINALS..PAYTON WAS A SECONDARY DEFENDER ON JORDAN...PRIMARY DEFENDER WAS HERSEY HAWKINS, AND WHEN PAYTON FINALLY GUARDED JORDAN, HE PLAYED BAD AND BULLS LOST 2 OF 3....SO THAT ONLY FURTHER PROVES MY POINT. TRY AGAIN .

Dude the only point you have is on top of your head. Jordan still averaged over 23 points per game with Payton on him you mope. Hell the Bulls had a 3-0 series lead on Seattle; so the series wasn't even competitive until Seattle won a couple of games in their home arena, before heading back to Chicago to be closed out. Of course Seattle played better at home, but the Bulls were already winning the series. Wow!!!
